Curator’s statement
Las Qolqas Ecoresort is a hidden gem on the outskirts of Ollantaytambo, the jumping off point for exploring Machu Picchu and an interesting town in its own right. An eco-friendly resort nestled in the mountains with a great restaurant speaks to everything I am looking for in a hotel. Add in a full service spa and an exceptionally attentive staff, and you've got a winning combination for a relaxing few days in Peru's Sacred Valley.

We arrived late in the afternoon and were greeted with a delicious passionfruit pisco punch - we probably shouldn’t have been drinking as we got used to the altitude, but it was too good to turn down. The resort uses safari-style tents for it’s one bedroom and family accommodations. Each tent has a porch with seating, comfy beds, a wood burning stove and nice bathroom with a steaming hot shower.
The property is stunning, with a river running through it, the walkway to each tent flanked with flowers and situated in the middle of the mountains. It’s quite a ways from the center of Ollanta, so it’s good that they offer solid options in the restaurant - breakfast is included and dinner is a selection of chef’s choices or Peruvian classics. If you want to head into town, to catch the train to Machu Picchu or just walk around, they have transportation available. The whole spa menu is tempting, but we opted for a leg massage - necessary after the steps of the Incan Empire - that was out of this world.
As if all of this wasn’t enough, the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. If you are heading to the Sacred Valley, check this place out!
