Weekend Cruise in Paradise
Curator’s statement

Weekend cruises out of Florida make for an easy vacation with friends and family. October and November are major birthday months for my group of friends. This weekend cruise to the Bahamas allowed us to spend time together and celebrate our birthdays. From lounging by the pools, walking up and down the boardwalk shopping, getting dressed up for dinner, to the late-night entertainment. We created memories that will last a lifetime.

We sailed aboard Allure of the Seas, a magnificent Royal Caribbean cruise ship featuring world-class amenities. Allure of the Seas is part of the Oasis Class of Royal Caribbean's cruise ships, known for their impressive size and vast array of onboard activities. The ship boasts 20 restaurants, each offering a unique dining experience, as well as seven different neighborhoods, each featuring distinct entertainment and activities. Our stateroom was spacious, with a balcony that provided stunning ocean views. The ship’s facilities include multiple pools, a spa, a fitness center and numerous dining options catering to all tastes.

The entertainment on board was top-notch, with nightly shows ranging from Broadway-style performances to live music and comedy acts. Dining was a highlight, with diverse cuisine options, from gourmet restaurants to casual buffets. We particularly enjoyed the seafood and international dining experiences. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Sharing this adventure with our friends made the trip even more memorable, from group dinners to late-night entertainment. On the first night, the main dining room was jam-packed, so the manager graciously provided us with complimentary dining at Chops. The service was spectacular, and the food was the best I have ever had on a cruise ship. The perfectly cooked steaks, fresh seafood and decadent desserts made for an unforgettable dining experience.

We were also pleasantly surprised by the spacious size of the casino. It offered a wide variety of games and slot machines, creating an exciting atmosphere. The layout was comfortable, allowing plenty of room to move around and enjoy the gaming experience without feeling crowded. We visited the casino every night, enjoying the lively ambiance and trying our luck at different games, making it a fun and thrilling part of our cruise experience.

There were also plenty of activities on board to keep us entertained throughout the trip. From rock climbing and zip-lining to mini-golf and the aqua theater, Allure of the Seas provides an abundance of options for both relaxation and adventure.

CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s private island where you can enjoy the pristine beaches, thrilling waterpark, zip-lines and water slides. The floating bar and lagoon area are a perfect location to relax with the girls. A big bonus is that your drink package works on the island!

Nassau offers many excursions to cater to anyone’s vibe. Whether you want to relax on the beach, get a private tour of the beautiful island, swim with the pigs or get your thrill-on with diving and snorkeling adventures. On this most recent trip, we only got to eat at Senor Frog’s, a restaurant and bar that is an experience all of its own.

Need to know

I have a lot of tips and tricks for cruisers. For a short weekend cruise to the Bahamas, packing light is key. For the cooler months, I recommend bringing a sweater or cardigan to wear inside the ship and maybe some long-sleeve sun-protecting shirts during the day. And remember SPF when outside during the day. Even though the temperature may only get into the upper 70’s, the UV index can be high, especially in the Caribbean.
