Experiencing the Charm of La Paz at the Baja Club Hotel
Curator’s statement

Baja Club Hotel helped me achieve the best type of vacation. One that is both relaxing and exciting at the same time. The staff were extremely kind and helpful from the moment I booked my stay. The hotel itself was decorated and designed beautifully with glossy red tile lining the bar and lounge chairs, which made it so comfortable to enjoy a delicious cocktail by the pool. I would recommend Baja Club Hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in La Paz.

Location

The Baja Club Hotel is located just a 20-minute drive from the La Paz Airport or about 2.5 hours from Los Cabos Airport. We flew from Tijuana International Airport to La Paz and once we arrived, a car was waiting for us from Baja Club Hotel transportation. The driver was very helpful and even drove us around the historic town center of La Paz to point out some of his favorite locations. The hotel itself is right on the beach of the Sea of Cortez, with its calm bay waters just a few feet away from the entrance to Baja Club. The view from our balcony was perfect. The weather was great during our stay in mid-June, so we always had a great view of the water. The hotel was not only steps away from the clear blue waters of La Paz, but was near various restaurants, cafes, water-sport rentals and much more.

Accommodations

Since I booked through Tablet, Baja Club Hotel upgraded us to a balcony room, which was a great perk. The room itself was very well-designed. I loved the dark wood accents as well as the glossy red tile in our shower, which added a simple yet colorful look to our bathroom.

Staff

One thing that made me love the Baja Club Hotel was how kind and helpful the staff was. When I emailed the concierge before our trip for activity questions, he sent me all he had and gave me advice on what to book and when. We had a couple of mishaps in La Paz concerning transportation — nothing to do with the hotel — but when we called the front desk they were able to help and get us to where we needed to be. We had a lot of questions, so I was surprised to see that the staff were never annoyed but rather excited to answer them. Whether it was to make a reservation or advice on places to visit on the promenade, they were attentive and able to meet all our wants and needs.

My favorite activities in La Paz

1. Visit El Tecolote Beach: Baja Club Hotel recommended this beach the first day we were in La Paz, and it was such a fun beach to visit. They are known for their water sports, so I suggest paying for thirty minutes to an hour on a jet ski or jet-ski raft. We had a ton of fun zooming through the sea and admiring the gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains.

2. Paddle-boarding: Another super easy and fun activity was to rent paddle boards from the shop just two doors down from Baja Club Hotel. We paddled out quite far but were still able to stand and swim in the clear blue waters of the sea.

3. Go for a promenade bike ride: We rented bikes from a nearby rental shop for about $10 and went all the way down the promenade past the La Paz sign and stopped to check out the boardwalk overlooking Playa El Coromuel.

4. Visit the small town of Pueblo Minero El Triunfo: This small town has a rich history of Baja California Sur and also has a great restaurant for lunch and a small cafe for yummy coffees. Make sure to plan transportation accordingly because it is an hour out of La Paz.

Take a boat tour of Isla Espiritu

Baja Club Hotel arranged for us to go on a boat tour of the nearby island Isla Espiritu, which was by far my favorite activity of the trip. We were able to see sea lions and snorkel with a variety of different fish, as well as relax on the beach with some fresh ceviche.

Need to know

I would recommend Baja Club Hotel specifically for a romantic getaway or for a relaxing and fun friends trip. La Paz is beautiful and the Baja Club Hotel makes sure you experience the city in all it's glory.
