Windstar Cruises: Journey on the Star Legend
Curator’s statement

The Windstar cruise experience on the Star Legend was a game-changer for me. With a capacity for 312 guests but only 240 on board, it felt more like a private yacht than a typical cruise ship. As an introvert who gets overwhelmed in big crowds, I found peace and tranquility on this boat that I never thought possible. I didn't expect to become a cruise lover, but this trip converted me.

Everything on board was top-notch luxury. It felt like home, but at sea. The Star Legend is big enough to spoil and entertain you, but small enough to get into fun little harbors and hidden coves that bigger ships can't reach. Plus, being surrounded by like-minded people made the experience even more special. This unique blend of luxury and intimacy is what makes the Windstar cruise so significant and memorable.

Need to know

This cruise is perfect for those seeking relaxation and tranquility, not for party-goers. It offers a unique opportunity to explore secluded places and is the ideal way to visit the Scottish Highlands. Here are some key takeaways for clients considering this cruise:

Best Times to Travel

  • The best weather and least chance of rain in this region are from May to September. However, don’t let a little rain deter you — the experience is worth it year-round.

Tips for First-Time Cruisers

  • Pack for comfort and varying weather. Bring a rain jacket and comfortable shoes for day excursions, and smart-casual attire for evenings on the boat.

  • Make the most of your small ship experience by meeting other travelers who like what you're doing and enjoying the small space.

  • While I didn't experience sea sickness, it is wise to come prepared and bring some ginger capsules in case it happens.

Must-Do Activities

  • Explore tiny harbors and hidden coves that larger ships can't reach.

  • Participate in daily guest speaker sessions for insights about destinations.

  • Enjoy the ship's luxurious amenities, including the new dining venues, spa and elevated pool.

Remember, this cruise is all about relaxing and being comfortable. It will be a memorable and peaceful trip through some of the most beautiful and remote places.
