Site Inspection at the Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy
Curator’s statement

Living on the Asian side of Istanbul, sometimes we are looking for a place to stay a couple of nights on the European side to play tourist, but also to unwind. This luxurious hotel offers the perfect blend of relaxation and sightseeing. Couples will adore the romance, families enjoy spacious rooms and amenities. The breakfast is incredible – think traditional Turkish gözleme made fresh, alongside familiar American options. Plus, there's a gorgeous pool by the Marmara Sea with a pool bar and hammocks, and some rooms have access to a 16th-floor lounge with cocktail hour and all-day refreshments.

We chose the Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy as a staycation spot, and thoroughly enjoyed that that had everything on property to keep us entertained. The friendly and helpful staff, fluent in English, made everything even better. Free parking was a welcome bonus.

We were very happy when the bellman showed us our spacious room with a sea view. The kind hotel staff had our welcome amenity of wine and a fruit basket with a handwritten note waiting for us. The bathroom had a large bathtub and a shower, and our favorite vacation necessity: bathrobes.

Evenings offered live music/DJs at the rooftop bar with Marmara Sea views (schedule on their website) or a live pianist in the lobby. Select rooms or Hyatt status grant access to a 16th-floor lounge with a cocktail hour. The lounge access was one of our favorite details; very calm, and they served a light dinner as well as all day refreshments. For a couple, we saved quite a bit of money compared to individually buying drinks, dinner, coffee and snacks.

The breakfast buffet was fabulous, offering both traditional Turkish fare like freshly made gözleme and familiar American options. Bonus points for offering lattes, Turkish coffee, and even vegan milk options (a rarity in some Istanbul luxury hotels). We had a late checkout, so after a long and relaxed breakfast, we spent time by the gorgeous pool, enjoying mocktails from the pool bar (alcoholic options are available, but we knew we’d be driving to explore Sultanahmet later on). In addition to the outdoor pool, there is an indoor pool and spa area. They have a well-equipped gym, and even have a separate women's area with a Pilates machine.

Beyond the hotel, exciting day trips are easily accessible. The Adalar Islands, a scenic archipelago, were just 13.14 miles away. Those who love a good shopping day could venture out to the iconic Grand Bazaar (6.3 miles away) or the Spice Bazaar (6.58 miles away). The Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy truly provides the perfect home base for a memorable Istanbul vacation.
