Curator’s statement
There are few places I adore as much as French Polynesia and the Four Seasons Bora Bora represents the pinnacle of luxury in this incredibly rich and beautiful cultural locale. The experience of awakening in an overwater suite with a direct view of the renowned Mount Otemanu and spending your days interacting with the local Polynesians, who take great pride in their work at the resort, is simply magical. Service at the resort is subtle, yet refined and there are diverse dining options for every palette. If you’re looking for a luxurious retreat in paradise, this is it.

Destination and Arrival
Situated near the tiny airport, Four Seasons Bora Bora is a true gem in paradise, offering unobstructed views of Mount Otemanu from every vantage point. Your luxurious experience begins right at the airport, where you are greeted and swiftly transported to the hotel lobby via a classic luxury boat.
The debate about the best view of Mount Otemanu among travelers is an ongoing one and we firmly believe that Four Seasons stands as a strong contender. With spectacular views from every corner of the resort, one cannot help but be in awe. The hotel is strategically located on a slender strip of land that is shielded by the outer reef while also encompassing small lagoons that meander through the resort. The melodious sound of the waves pervades the hotel, offering a surreal experience as you gaze at the tranquil lagoon while listening to the swell behind you.
Accommodations
Four Seasons provides suite-style bungalows and every villa has a bedroom and separate living room.
The entry-level room is a one-Bedroom Beach View bungalow. Although the room layout is similar to others, we suggest opting for at least a Lagoon View bungalow for an enhanced experience. The Beach View bungalows, due to their placement, might offer less privacy. The Lagoon View and Mountain View bungalows offer splendid views, with the Mountain View suites directly facing Mount Otemanu.
If you ask me, the one-bedroom Otemanu Overwater Bungalow is the ideal choice, offering uninterrupted views of the natural spectacle and a reasonable level of privacy.
The suites come with a spacious living room whose walls can be entirely opened to the outside. The living room houses a large minibar, seating area and television. The bathroom, which separates the living room from the bedroom, includes a sizable bath that can be completely opened to the outside, dual vanities, a shower and a separate toilet room. The king bedroom is plush and tranquil. The bungalow exudes the aroma of fresh wood, giving you the feel of a spa. It's the minute details like the coffee table books, artwork and homely vibes that make the stay unforgettable.
For those willing to splurge a bit more, the Otemanu Suites with plunge pools offer a larger pool, an outdoor covered lounge pad and are placed at the ends of the jetties, ensuring complete privacy when you are in the living room, bedroom or pool. However, do note that the lounge corner might not be entirely private due to the curvature of the jetty and proximity to adjoining rooms.
Amenities and Dining
When it comes to amenities, Four Seasons Bora Bora does not leave any stone unturned. They offer a plethora of facilities – a world-class spa, a beautiful beachfront, a pool, activities and incredible lagoons for snorkeling. Paddle boarding and snorkeling gear are included in your room charge, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore the area both above and under the water. There are several shops within the property for guests who do not wish to take a shuttle to the mainland. The prices align with the high-end shops in town, and you can claim tax refunds upon your departure from French Polynesia.
The property offers four dining options, along with in-room dining. A wide variety of cuisine is available, catering to seafood lovers, meat enthusiasts and vegetarians alike.
Need to know
This resort is perfect for couples seeking a serene retreat and a quiet five-star property. The spa and beach are the highlights of this exquisite resort. I typically recommend it for honeymoons and birthdays thanks to the staff's acknowledgement of celebrations as well as for long stays, thanks to the sizable rooms.
