Curator’s statement

Living in Lisbon for over a year has given me a real taste of its amazing vibes. In August, I got the opportunity to visit Torel Palace Lisbon, a property that totally captures what makes this city special. This historic mansion turned hotel mixes history with a modern twist and it's so on point with what Lisbon is all about!

Torel Palace is located atop one of Lisbon's picturesque hills, and let me tell you, the view from up there is something else. It's like this hidden gem that's tucked away but still right in the heart of everything. You'll find it just above Avenida da Liberdade, which is Lisbon's main grand avenue, full of shops and restaurants. This historic palace-turned-hotel offers a unique blend of opulence, history and modern comfort, providing guests with a truly unforgettable experience.

Upon arrival you'll stroll through the garden/terrace area in order to reach the reception. As you step inside, you are greeted by an atmosphere that seamlessly marries classic charm with contemporary design. Accommodations at Torel Palace are characterized by their luxury and individuality. Each room, suite and apartment is uniquely decorated with a distinct personality, effortlessly resonating a regal theme throughout. The property features two pools, including a brand-new spa with a hammam and sauna (that is set to open in September), along with a diverse range of seating and lounging options. With two on-site restaurants, 2Monkeys & Black Pavilion, guests are in for a variety of dining choices. 2Monkeys Restaurant creates an intimate and exceptional experience, catering to a limited number of 14 guests in a relaxed atmosphere. While the Black Pavilion Restaurants, is like a modern food haven. offering a tempting à la carte menu. During the summer months, as the sun sets, Torel Palace comes alive with a musical ambiance, featuring weekly Dj music sessions and a lively bar on the terrace, creating the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy the amazing views!

In my opinion, Torel Palace is perfect for solo travelers, couples and small friend groups. They offer a variety of room, suite and apartment sizes but don't have any connecting rooms. The property consists of four buildings and while three of them are more modern and offer elevators note that the main house (pink) does not have an elevator. Rooms have a maximum capacity of two and only in certain rooms are they able to add an extra bed.
