Curator’s statement
In July of 2024, I had a fantastic site inspection tour while staying at the beautiful Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth hotel in Downtown Montreal. Upon arrival, I was immediately upgraded to a room with a view (one of the many perks of booking with me!). As a first-time solo visitor to Montreal, I highly recommend this hotel for first-timers, business travelers, corporate events, and group trips. Its central location, beautiful accommodations and full-service amenities offer something for everyone.

Central Location:
Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth is a large 4-star Montreal hotel, fully renovated in 2017. It is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, offering easy access to shopping, dining, and major attractions.
It is conveniently connected to both the Montreal metro system and the Montreal Underground City, which makes this the perfect stay for a first-timer looking to get around the city easily! Not to mention, it’s a 20 minute drive from the airport, a 20 minute-walk to Old Montreal, and a 30-minute walk to Mount Royal.
Luxurious Accommodations:
The hotel offers 950 rooms and suites in a wide variety of categories, all including scenic views of Downtown Montreal. Travelers looking for a more upscale experience away from the hustle and bustle of the main lobby can opt for the Fairmont Gold experience. Fairmont Gold is a group of premium room categories that come with a separate check-in area, high floors, a beautiful VIP lounge and concierge, and quiet meeting spaces and work areas.
Gastronomic Delights:
Renowned dining options including the Montreal landmark restaurant, Rosélys, serving contemporary cuisine. There are 4 total dining options on property:
Rosely’s for breakfast, lunch, dinner
Nacarat terrace bar with amazing views
Marche Artisans for local gifts, food, and trinkets
Krema for a quick coffee and snack stop
Meeting and Event Facilities:
Extensive conference and event spaces at the hotel are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, ideal for both business meetings and social gatherings. I learned that this is the largest hotel in the city for conferences and group retreats.
Wellness Amenities:
This hotel offers large and luxurious amenities, including a relaxing indoor pool, a fitness center, and a full-service spa offering rejuvenating treatments.
Special Experiences:
These 2 suites are located at opposite ends of the 17th floor. Guests can book the John & Yoko Suite for a historic stay in a legendary room, and the Barbie Dream Suite for a special occasion like a birthday, girls trip, or bachelorette party.
John & Yoko Suite: The famous John Lennon and Yoko Ono suite is the site of the 1969 "bed-in for peace", where the song "Give Peace a Chance" was composed and recorded. This suite has been completely reimagined with a virtual reality experience and plenty of in-room surprises.
Barbie Dream Suite: Immerse yourself into the pink and playful Barbie world for an incredible hospitality experience. Every moment in the 1200 sq foot Barbie Dream Suite is infused with a captivating sense of fun, elegance, and luxury.
Need to know
I recommend the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth for any traveler looking to easily get around the city. It is ideal for solo travel and group travel, and is particularly well-suited for business travel. The hotel’s location was the best part of my stay. It was at most a 20–30 minute walk from all major sites around Downtown Montreal, Old Montreal and Mount Royal.
