L'Oscar London: Historic Charm and Chic Elegance
Curator’s statement

Exploring the astonishing sights of London, I had the privilege to tour L’Oscar hotel with fellow Fora advisors on a recent site visit day. L'Oscar marks the debut of esteemed hotelier Michel Reybier in London and serves as the maiden creation by the acclaimed 'holy grail of French taste,' Jacques Garcia. In his signature style, the French designer infused the rooms with opulence and, notably, a captivating atmosphere, demonstrating a keen appreciation for history and meticulous attention to detail. The name L’oscar is a homage to the renowned writer Oscar Wilde, intertwining with the literary and historical context of the area.

The hotel features 39 bedrooms of which 18 are suites and is also home to the decadent L’oscar Restaurant and Baptist Bar alongside other more unique function spaces for smaller and larger meetings and events. The imagination and attention to detail in the décor creates an elegant French design within a historical British building. The theatrical style is the ideal setting, providing a luxurious escape into the city. You can admire L’oscar’s elegant interiors boasting deep hues gilded with gold and strewn with butterflies and birds. There are over 400 bird statues along the hotel's decoration.

L’Oscar stands as a dazzling architectural masterpiece from the turn of the century, once a Baroque-style, Grade II listed church, now splendidly rejuvenated by the renowned decorator Jacques Garcia. Nestled close to Covent Garden, it resides at the heart of a vibrant blend of shops, restaurants and bars, shaping the epitome of the city's chic high-end district.

The absence of a traditional reception area creates a unique and enchanting arrival experience. Guests are personally greeted, making it feel like a visit to a friend's home. The check-in process, devoid of lines, allows guests to relax, sit down and enjoy a personalized welcome with their preferred drink — a truly delightful surprise.

Need to know

L'Oscar London is in an ideal location for experiencing the heart of the city, where guests can enjoy easy access to a range of luxury boutiques, restaurants and cultural hot spots including Theatreland, the British Museum and the Royal Opera House. For clients seeking a blend of historic charm and chic elegance, adorned with intricate details throughout the property and offering highly personalized customer service, this is an excellent option. Its strategic location is particularly appealing for couples eager to explore the vibrant city nightlife and relish all that London has to offer.

I highly recommend a stay at the Junior Suite Bell Tower, boasting a glass ceiling that bathes the bathroom area in incredible natural light.
