A 3–Night Stay at Santa Fe's Inn & Spa at Loretto

Nestled right at the heart of Santa Fe's historic Plaza, the Inn & Spa at Loretto not only stands as a testament to New Mexico's rich history and Southwestern heritage but also serves as the perfect base to explore the enchanting city of Santa Fe on foot. Its proximity to the city’s vibrant core — filled with local boutiques, native art galleries and historic sites — allowed me to immerse fully in the local charm and culture, making every stroll wonderful. The architectural beauty of the inn, with its adobe structure and intricate designs, mirrors the spirit of Santa Fe, turning the building itself into a captivating attraction.

The Inn houses 136 suites and guest rooms across seven different categories, offering a sanctuary of comfort and Southwestern elegance to its guests. Despite initially booking a Pueblo Guest Room, I was pleasantly upgraded to the Grande Guest Room, which featured not only a spacious bed but also a cozy living area, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploration. The on-site Luminaria Restaurant became a daily delight with its inventive Southwestern fare; the Luminaria Benedict for breakfast and the beef short rib croquettes for dinner were personal highlights, encapsulating the flavorful essence of local cuisine.

Santa Fe, with its historic plaza as the focal point, offered endless opportunities to explore. From the myriad of local boutiques to the exquisite native art galleries, each corner of the city tells a story, often adorned with the mesmerizing hue of turquoise, which I couldn’t resist bringing home as a keepsake. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and its serene praying garden provided a peaceful retreat, while a day trip to Ski Santa Fe revealed breathtaking views of snowy peaks against clear blue skies, making for an unforgettable skiing experience. Culinary adventures led me to La Plazuela, where the table-side guacamole was a revelation, and The Shed Restaurant, a must-visit for its authentic Mexican dishes and vibrant atmosphere, though be warned — the wait for a table can be quite the test of patience but very much worth it.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Inn & Spa at Loretto for couples seeking a romantic backdrop to their getaway and groups of friends aiming for a unique weekend escape. Its prime location and the inherent charm of Santa Fe make it a perfect setting for those looking to dive deep into the rich culture, art and culinary excellence of the area, regardless of the season.
