Explora Torres Del Paine is for the avid adventurer and outdoor enthusiast. It is not an easy destination to get to, but once you are there, it is well worth the effort. The lodge and rooms are the perfect blend of rustic and luxury with unbelievable views everywhere you look.
Daily activities are offered that range from guided hikes, bird watching, to horseback riding. The guides are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and have a big impact on your trip. With 50 explorations to choose from, there really is something for everyone.
The food and wine at Explora deserves so much recognition. The chefs focus on using fresh, local ingredients to create outstanding dishes. After a long day of exploring, you can go to the bar and have amazing wine that you can get yourself right from an electric wine dispenser. They offer a range of Chilean wines that are incredible and their bartenders make a delicious cocktail.
If you need a little more relaxation, you can schedule a massage at the spa or spend time in one of their open-air jacuzzis or saunas.
I wholeheartedly agree with the note they left in our room: "Some places are simply worth the distance. The end of the world is certainly one of them. Welcome to Patagonia!"
Need to know
They aren't kidding when they say you can experience four seasons in one day in Patagonia. Be prepared with multiple layers and a rain jacket. Spring (September to November) and fall (March to May) are my favorite times to visit, but summer (December-February) is the busiest tourist time. You will not be able to do all of the explorations in winter (June-August).
You can get to Explora Torres Del Paine by flying into Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales and then traveling by Explora van to the lodge.
The lodge and surrounding area do not have cell service, but there is WiFi at the lodge.
The rooms do not have air conditioning, only heat.
