Honeymoon Hideaway in the Thai Islands: Six Senses Samui
Curator’s statement

We chose Six Senses Samui for a five-night stay as the last leg of our honeymoon and it was the perfect end to our adventure. Our Ocean Front Pool Villa Suite is a stunning private oasis for relaxation and connection. The onsite dining was outstanding, and our private Thai cooking class was a special highlight. This property is the perfect retreat for couples seeking a memorable honeymoon stay.

Six Senses Samui is a dreamy honeymoon getaway perfect for couples seeking a relaxing retreat. Tucked away on the northern tip of the island, the property is secluded in the best way, while still only being a 20-minute drive from the airport. They were also happy to assist us in arranging our airport transfers.

With just 67 private villa-style rooms, Six Senses Samui is an ideal size for offering all of the amenities and level of service you'd expect from a luxury resort, without ever feeling overcrowded or impersonal. Your assigned Guest Experience Maker is eager to personalize your stay and attend to every detail.

When it comes to sustainability, Six Senses is a standout in the hotel space, and the Samui property was no exception. I loved their use of fresh ingredients straight from the onsite farm in both food and cocktails. And the lemongrass straws used in all beverages were super fun - they even offered a workshop on how to make them!

A highlight of our stay was definitely the private Thai cooking class with one of the property's chefs. They have multiple menus and course selections to choose from, and we chose to prepare Tom Yam Goong (Spicy Prawn Soup), Gang Poo Bai Chaploo (Coconut Yellow Curry with Crab Meat and Betel Leaves), and Kao Niew Ma Muang (Mango and Sticky Rice). My husband and I love cooking together at home, so this was a great honeymoon experience to share. We can't wait to recreate these recipes and relive our honeymoon through the Thai flavors.

My husband opted out of joining me for a spa treatment, and boy was that his loss. Our Guest Experience Maker helped consult me on their different offerings, and I chose the Nourishing Ritual, which included a fusion massage of different techniques, foot acupressure, and a facial. The entire spa experience was top-notch. I was greeted with tea, a chilled lemongrass towel, and a selection of their aromatherapy oils to choose from for my treatment. My spa therapist then escorted me to my private spa villa where I would have my entire 2.5-hour treatment. No locker rooms here; I had the entire ocean view treatment villa to myself to shower, change, and prepare for my treatment. My treatment was wonderful and just what my body needed as we came towards the end of 14 days of travel.

Now that we've returned home and had time to reflect on our honeymoon stay, there's no doubt in our minds that we made the right choice. Six Senses Samui not only has a standout location, including a private beach club, but their attention to detail was spectacular. The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and our stay feel special. I would highly recommend this property for honeymooners or couples seeking an island escape.

Need to know

The island of Koh Samui experiences different weather patterns than the rest of Thailand. Please check the rainy season for Koh Samui specifically before planning your trip.

Please note that as a cliffside resort, there are many long, steep staircases throughout the property. While there is an on-call buggy service that is always prompt, I do recommend sharing any mobility concerns with your Travel Advisor so they can work with the property to best accommodate you during your stay.
