I had always dreamt of visiting Zanzibar, and, after a trip to Uganda where we volunteered at a medical center, we had a few days to check it out. I decided to splurge on a suite in this spectacular hotel in Stone Town, Zanzibar, and I was so glad I did!

The Park Hyatt Zanzibar's centerpiece is a stunning lobby bathed in natural light from multiple skylights. Its perimeter is adorned with the characteristic pointed arches of Islamic architecture, and a tranquil fountain, illuminated by intricate hanging lanterns, graces its center. The entire space is pristine white and sparkling, offering breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean from the expansive veranda that wraps around the back of the hotel and features an infinity pool.

Our room was a "Park Suite King." It was a spacious sanctuary featuring a separate living area, a king-sized bedroom with a seating nook and a luxurious bathroom. Large French doors in both the living room and bedroom led out to a private balcony with panoramic ocean vistas. The bed was enveloped in soft mosquito netting, and the French doors were adorned with elegant gauze curtains.

The breakfast was a palatial feast consisting of innumerable hot and cold dishes, which you could enjoy on their expansive terrace while watching fishing boats go out to sea. Hotel staff would arrange tours, transportation and anything else you desire. We enjoyed setting out on foot and getting lost in the meandering alleys of Stone Town.

Park Hyatt Zanzibar is a wonderful place to use as your base of operations to explore this lovely spice island!
