Property Review: The Rome EDITION
Curator’s statement

On a much-anticipated first-time visit to Italy, I had the pleasure of staying at the Rome EDITION. The hotel serves as a peaceful oasis among the hustle and bustle of one of Europe’s busiest tourist cities. The attention to detail, ambiance, location and friendly staff quickly made this one of my favorite hotel stays to date.

The Rome EDITION is tucked away on a small street with an unassuming facade. You are immediately transported into a lush oasis with a greenery-covered entrance and terrace. The high ceilings and coordinating colors of the lobby are particularly striking for those who appreciate the design of a hotel.

We were met with extremely helpful and friendly staff as soon as we arrived. Our flight didn’t land until after 8 pm, and with a lost piece of luggage, we did not arrive at the hotel until after 10:30 pm. The valet and front desk team quickly checked us in and took the information for coordinating with the airport to assist with the lost bag.

The rooms are well-appointed and very cozy. My husband and I were upgraded to the Premiere Room, which was an incredibly spacious room, especially considering typical room standards in Europe. There was only one small window in the room, so natural light was at a minimum. But this made for the perfect sleeping haven as we adjusted to a new time zone. The standard rooms are on the small side, but still sufficient space for one or two people if planning to spend more time exploring the city than being in the room.

There are several onsite restaurant and bar options available as well. One of my favorite hotel amenities when I travel is breakfast. The food choices, coffee and service at Anima were top-notch and kept us well-fed throughout jam-packed days of sightseeing. We did not have the opportunity to check out the Jade Bar or Punch Bowl. At the time we visited, Punch Bowl was not open. Both are located off the lobby of the hotel and appear to be more intimate spaces, so they would be ideal for couples or small groups. The Rooftop Bar was our main stop in the evening, before or after dinner for fun cocktails and great views. The rooftop does also have a small pool and a handful of lounge chairs, but we did not take advantage of this amenity.

Finally, the location of the hotel was great for those who want to be close enough to the action to walk to major sites, but also would like to be slightly removed from the busiest streets of Rome. The quiet street that the hotel entrance is on also made for a very easy Uber/taxi pick when needed.

Need to know

I recommend The Rome EDITION to clients looking for the feel of a high-end luxury hotel option but at a more moderate price. It is ideal as a hub for the jetsetting couple, those who appreciate good drinks and great ambiance. This hotel would make the perfect first stop on a honeymoon or romantic getaway! Though the hotel is on the smaller side for a Bonvoy property, there are enough rooms and room types to also make for a great option for a couple’s trip. Let’s connect and plan your dream Italian vacation!
