The Roosevelt is known for its elegant architecture, its beautiful courtyard, and its lively atmosphere. It really comes to life at Christmastime, where both guests and visitors flock to the sparkly, no-expense-spared, beautifully decorated corridors. The holiday spirit is very much alive in this hotel!

Maison de la Luz:

This boutique hotel is located in the Warehouse District and is walking distance to some pretty good restaurants and brunch spots. The common spaces are impeccably designed, cozy and inviting, and the food isn't bad either, making it very easy to almost never leave the hotel during your stay.

When it first opened in 1861, it used to be a Convent! Now fully modernized and playfully restored, it reopened its doors in 2021. There's only 75 rooms, and it is located in the Lower Garden District. The brick building is beautiful. The interior design approach is bold and floral, and the rooms are filled with lush furnishings and colorful bathroom tiles. Some of the rooms and suites feature soaking bathtubs, terraces and separate living spaces for a true home-away-from-home, romantic stay.

This makes it the perfect place to base yourself for a family vacation, as you can easily explore the city without needing to worry about transportation. The Four Seasons is not only kid-friendly, but also a great place to bring your pet! It is known for its staff's friendly and accommodating attitude, which helps make traveling as a family a smoother and better experience. Apart from the stunning pool, which kids of all ages may enjoy, the hotel specializes in unique experiences & activities for children. For example, little kids may enjoy a space of their own with the unique Bayou Camping set-up that features a kids' tent, camping lantern, and mini cooler loaded with local soft drinks, gummy frogs and trail mix cookies. Older kids may enjoy pretending to be adults with a mocktail set-up that includes a variety of sparkling beverages, flavored syrups and fruit garnishes.

For first-timers and solo travelers, I highly recommend picking a hotel near or in the French Quarter so you can walk to many of the sights as well as enjoy the lively nightlife. A walking tour of the Garden District is a must! Join the women-led Two Chicks for a fun and insightful stroll around the stunning and imposing mansions with their unique, delicate metal architectural decorative details. You'll learn all about their history and their famous and infamous residents! If you have more than a couple of days in the city, I strongly suggest you join a day tour to at least one of the plantations. Whitney is the most interesting and educational, as the story is told entirely from the slaves perspective and it delicately highlights America's dark history. No visit would be complete without a trip to the swamps! Hop on an airboat; it feels like you are being transported straight into Disneys enchanting “Princess and the Frog” but watch out for the alligators lurking on the banks!
