Curator’s statement
During my recent visit to South Africa, I had the pleasure of staying at the exquisite South Africa Four Seasons Hotel, an oasis of luxury nestled in the heart of this vibrant country. Johannesburg, as one of the major international gateways to South Africa, often serves as the starting or ending point for travelers arriving from abroad. After a long flight, staying at the South Africa Four Seasons allows you to acclimatize to the local time zone and climate before heading to more remote safari locations or other exciting countries like Namibia or Botswana. It’s an opportunity to relax, unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead or relax from your adventurous safari. As part of a trusted global brand, South Africa Four Seasons ensures peace of mind with rigorous health and safety protocols, as well as the most luxurious and comfortable place to decompress, pre- or post- safari excursions.

Location: Perched majestically with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, South Africa Four Seasons offers a tranquil escape from your long travels. Surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking serene vistas, the ambiance is both calming and rejuvenating. The hotel is located in the upscale neighborhood of Westcliff, known for its leafy residential streets, beautiful gardens and panoramic views over Johannesburg. The area is often patrolled by private security services, which adds an additional layer of security.
Accommodation: The accommodation at Four Seasons was nothing short of spectacular. My room was a sanctuary of modern elegance, adorned with luxurious furnishings as only the Four Seasons can do. The plush bedding and the expansive bathroom with its deep soaking tub provided the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploration. What truly set this stay apart were the personal touches that made me feel like a cherished guest rather than just a visitor. From the personalized welcome amenities to the thoughtful gestures that anticipated my preferences, the staff went above and beyond to create moments of delight.
World-class dining: The fine dining and casual meals at South Africa Four Seasons are exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the diverse menus at the hotel's restaurants, from gourmet dishes showcasing local flavors to international cuisine crafted with exquisite ingredients.
Things to do: Some of the highlights when staying at the South Africa Four Seasons include relaxation at the spa, or spending a leisurely afternoon poolside which is beautifully landscaped. We also enjoyed some time in the well-equipped fitness center. You don’t really have to leave the property, but if you feel like it, the Concierge at the South Africa Four Seasons can organize excursions to other neighborhoods in Johannesburg exploring museums, art galleries, historical sites (like Soweto and the Apartheid Museum) and vibrant markets (like the Neighbourgoods Market in Braamfontein). Also, don’t forget to load up on safari gear or supplies from supermarkets and pharmacies, before your excursion to the countryside and national parks!
