My Stay at the JW Marriott Hotel Berlin
Curator’s statement

I traveled to Berlin, Germany, in August of 2024 for a work program and was fortunate enough to stay at the JW Marriott Hotel Berlin. This city-center property is situated on a quiet street with easy access to Tiergarten Park and Potsdamer Platz. From starting the day with an expansive breakfast buffet to enjoying the rarity of a European city hotel pool to the friendly staff, I immensely enjoyed my stay at this property.

Location

A quick 30-minute taxi from the airport gets you to this ideally-situated property. Perfect for exploring Berlin, this hotel sits on the edge of Berlin's most expansive park, Tiergarten, and is surrounded by museums. Heading west out of the hotel will bring you to the renowned Berlin Zoo and some high-end shopping— heading east will plop you in Potsdamer Platz with its variety of restaurants and shops. Keep heading north from there to Brandenburg Gate, and your tour of Berlin's major sites begins!

Rooms

At the time of this writing, the hotel is undergoing renovations. Having stayed in both the non-renovated and renovated rooms, I can confidently say this hotel is getting a major glow-up! This 505-room property has many room categories, including six different suite options. All rooms include an optional welcome drink, daily housekeeping and turndown service, and complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water are provided. Also, guests can access the fitness center and spa facilities, including the indoor pool and sauna.

Dining

Start your day with a beautifully displayed and expansive breakfast buffet, or if you're in a hurry, grab a coffee to go from the Berlin Baking Company. There is one restaurant option for dinner (I highly recommend the burrata!) and a few bars to finish with a nightcap. Or choose to relax and let room service come to you.

Need to know

This property is ideal for large groups, business travelers or those who want the comfort of a Marriott property. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the location is hard to beat—it's the perfect mix of central and secluded. Plus, the pool makes this ideal for Eurosummer travels when you need to escape the heat.
