Under Canvas Zion: Your Perfect Rustic Fall Getaway
Curator’s statement

A late October wedding left me with the creative task of finding a couple-friendly, fall destination for my honeymoon. I set out to find stunning scenery with fall colors for me, and fresh air near a national park for my adventurous husband. I found everything I needed (and more) in the towering cliffs of Zion National Park while staying at Under Canvas Zion.

Where to stay

Imagine driving up a windy road with a backdrop of cotton-candy skies. You then pull up to safari-style tents nestled within the crimson sandstone so unique to the surrounding areas of Zion National Park. Live music is playing and you see a community of guests around a cozy fire, roasting marshmallows in adirondack chairs. You have just arrived at Under Canvas Zion (an arrival time around sunset would be preferable to re-create this dramatic scene).

The property is expansive, yet very private. Many guests will take the opportunity to mingle in the common areas, and there is a great sense of community during meal times.

The greeting is personal, yet seamless, with an explanation of the amenities inside the spacious tents. The temperatures drop pretty low during this time of year at night, but the fireplace does keep you nice and cozy, while letting you enjoy the crisp autumn air.

Some tents do come in doubles with a mini tent attached to the main tent, which is great for families.

This property was such a unique and magical home base for our exploration of Zion National Park.

Need to know

The accommodations are luxurious and thoughtful, but you are in the elements in a canvas tent, albeit with many modern luxuries. We opted to go in the fall to see the colors of the park, but the temperatures fluctuated quite a bit. It does get cold at night. Dress warmly, and know that it will feel very much like camping. As night falls, you will have quiet solitude and twinkling stars.
