Festive Winter Retreat: Fairmont Royal York
Curator’s statement

Discover the epitome of luxury and historic charm at Fairmont Royal York Toronto. This trip report provides an overview of my recent stay in December 2023.

The hotel's festive spirit makes it a must-visit destination during the holiday season. From the moment you step into the elegantly adorned lobby, you'll be immersed in seasonal cheer. The spectacular lobby Christmas tree is selfie-worthy and a destination for guests and locals alike.

Where to stay

Situated in the heart of downtown Toronto, Fairmont Royal York offers convenient access to the city's most popular attractions. Whether it's exploring the Distillery District’s Winter Village, ice skating at Nathan Phillips Square or attending a holiday performance at Meridian Hall, the hotel's central location makes it an ideal base for your winter adventure. The Fairmont Royal York attracts many special events, weddings, holiday parties, and more so the lobby is always bustling with activity.

Food & Drink

Noteworthy is the Library Bar, where patrons can enjoy a selection of expertly crafted cocktails—even one that glows in the dark! Reign, the hotel's signature restaurant, offers a menu showcasing locally sourced ingredients. A standout at breakfast is the lemon pancakes, served with vanilla yogurt and fresh blueberry compote.

No December trip to the Fairmont Royal York would be complete without a visit to the annual holiday-themed pop-up bar, The Thirsty Elf. Pack your ugly Christmas sweater!

Good to Know

Toronto’s network of underground pedestrian walkways PATH, connects the lower level of the Fairmont Royal York to Union Station via Front Street, providing convenient access from the hotel to subway, regional and airport transportation.

Need to know

The attention to detail, impeccable service, and plethora of amenities and services, make it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. Wifi was strong and reliable (and free for loyalty club members). I’d love to plan your next leisure or business stay in Toronto!

While the hotel reflects the grandeur of the past, it remains relevant and captivating in the present, making it a standout destination in the heart of Toronto.
