Curator’s statement
I visited this property in January 2024. We were a group of six during our stay and everyone was sad when it was time to go home. I love the concept of a boutique hotel within a larger resort that allows you the freedom and options of a bigger property with the extra personal touches and quality offerings of a luxury stay. Note that this resort is adults-only.

Location
You fly into Cancun airport which is easily accessible from many major US locations. From there it is about a 45 minute drive south to the resort. Transportation from the airport to the hotel should always be arranged in advance to avoid any taxi scams and I am happy to assist with that piece as well!
Secrets Moxché vs Impressions:
Impression is a boutique hotel within a hotel. Overall at the Moxché resort property there are three different levels available to guests. The first is the standard rooms at Secrets Moxché, the second is the Preferred Club at Secrets Moxché, and the final is Impression Moxché by Secrets. Guests staying in the standard Secrets rooms and the Preferred Club have mainly the same benefits and amenities throughout the property. The largest difference and benefit of staying in the Preferred Club is access to a rooftop that includes two mirrored infinity edge pools and an additional restaurant/bar that serves breakfast, lunch and evening cocktails. Impressions guests have access to all of the same areas as Secrets/Preferred guests plus access to several additional exclusive pools, restaurants and bars. Impression rooms are also located in a separate building. This review will primarily be based on the Impression section of the resort.
Rooms
The Impression building contains 198 suites that start at 947 sq ft and go up to a 6,168 sq ft Presidential Beach Front Villa with three Bedrooms. Rooms at Impressions can have various views including Tropical, Ocean View or Ocean Front. All have large outdoor balconies with double soaking tubs and some also have swim out options.
Amenities:
Impression guests receive beach bags upon arrival to use throughout their trip and bring home with them. Impression Master Suite and above guests also receive beach hats. Impression guests also enjoy upgrade amenities in room with Le Labo bath products and high-end mini bar drinks and snacks, like Evian water and locally sourced nuts/candy. All Impressions guests have butler service available from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Our butler was able to unpack our suitcases for us so we could get straight to relaxing. They also helped us secure the limited-availability duck at the Japanese restaurant one evening.
Food/Drink
Impression guests have access to a total of 14 different restaurants not including additional premium experiences that are available or the numerous specialty themed dinners hosted throughout the week. There are a variety of cuisines available from Mexican, French, Italian, Japanese and even an entirely vegan restaurant. Something to keep in mind is that Secrets resorts do not offer dinner reservations (outside of specialty/premium experiences) and do require men to wear long pants for dinner indoors but each restaurant does have an outdoor patio option for seating as well. With a five-night stay at Impressions you get a complimentary dining experience at Teodoro, which is a seven-course tasting menu including premium local wine pairings. Impressions bars do also include some liquor options that were not available at other Secrets bars - Anejo and Cristalino tequila, for example, although the selection across the board at the resort offers diverse, quality options.
Pools/Beach
Pools are the real highlight at this resort - 11 in total if you are staying at Impressions plus three man-made cenotes and hot tubs. All of the pools have a different look and vibe so we found ourselves pool hopping throughout the day. The beach area is quite small but there are a selection of chairs and palapas available. It was nice to sit there in the mornings and listen to the waves.
Entertainment
There was often live music throughout the day in different areas from a harpist at breakfast, an acoustic duo during lunch, or a DJ/electric violinist in the afternoon at the ‘party pool’. There was also a daily schedule of activities from yoga to volleyball to a kayak tour. They also have nightly performances, many of which in their theater space. For those who love to dance, there is also a speakeasy style nightclub hidden through the Pharmacy.
