Ireland's landmarks are a testament to its rich history, stunning natural beauty and cultural heritage. Beginning in the vibrant streets of Dublin, where the historic Trinity College houses the illustrious Book of Kells. This manuscript written from the late 6th through 9th centuries contains the four Gospels of the New Testament. The Book of Kells draws its name from the Abbey of Kells, where it was held until approximately 1654. Your ticketed entry to Trinity College now includes the opportunity to view the Book of Kells. If you're bringing a child with you, have them watch the animated film The Secret of Kells before going to see the book! It's a great kids movie to fictionally explain the manuscript.
The natural beauty of Ireland is ever present in two of the most stunning coastal vistas of the Cliffs of Moher and the Ring of Kerry. Ireland's landmarks such as these allow visitors to take in the rugged coastline views winding through the picturesque villages along the Ring of Kerry. This Ireland landmark will lead you on a jaw-dropping route around the Iveragh Peninsula, starting and stopping in Killarney. Make sure to stop and enjoy some of the best sights, including the Gap of Dunloe, Torc Waterfall and Moll's Gap. Around each twist and turn, you'll find grand castles, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and epic views as far as the eye can see.
Speaking of castles, Ireland is full of old-world castles both grand and small scattered throughout the country. There are some which are well-known and frequented (and rightfully so!) like the Blarney Castle, home of the famous Blarney Stone — kiss it if you dare! But there are others like Bunratty Castle (an Ireland landmark made famous for its medieval banquet), or Rock of Cashel, which is epically perched atop a limestone cliff, about an hour's drive outside of Waterford. Dublin Castle is still a working government building with all its stately grandeur, and Dromoland Castle is now a luxury 5-star hotel, literally fit for a king!
