Location
Situated in close proximity to the Atlantis on Paradise Island, Riu Palace offers a convenient 30-minute drive from Nassau's Lynden Pindling International Airport. There’s only one entry road to the resort, cultivating a sense of security and seclusion from neighboring establishments. For those seeking a taste of local culture or shopping at the Straw Market, a 10-minute taxi ride to downtown is recommended—just be mindful of the $2BSD toll on the return journey.
Rooms
We opted for the Junior Suite with stunning ocean views. It had a private balcony, a mini-bar with beverage dispensers, a spacious king bed and other amenities, perfectly tailored for our couple's retreat. Riu Palace offers a diverse range of suite options, from rooms with full frontal sea views to expansive suites suitable for groups.
Dining
Riu Palace has a wide array of culinary experiences right on-site, and we made sure to explore them all! Throughout the day, the main restaurant served up a fantastic buffet-style breakfast and lunch, complemented by an enticing Jerk BBQ station conveniently located by the pool. Come evening, we indulged in the diverse fine dining restaurant options, including Kulinarium for Caribbean cuisine, Tengoku for Japanese delights, Krystal for fusion gourmet, and a sizzling steakhouse. Securing reservations is a must through their user-friendly app, which is only available for use after you've checked in.
Activities
Our itinerary at Riu Palace kicked off with a rejuvenating couple's massage at Renova Spa, setting the tone for a well-deserved relaxing vacation. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the on-site gym, catering to those who prefer not to miss a workout (my boyfriend included). Beyond wellness, a calendar of activities awaits, ranging from beach volleyball to water aerobics. For those seeking less athletic amusement (like myself), poolside Bingo, vibrant DJ-led dance sessions, and convenient cocktail services provided ample entertainment. As nighttime fell, Riu Palace's Calypso bar became a lively venue for dance performances and trivia. There’s a perfect blend of daytime leisure and nighttime excitement.
Need to know
Venturing off the property was easy, but it’s not exactly pedestrian-friendly. Taxis are always easily accessible and the drivers are exceptionally accommodating - most are proudly willing to give you a tour of Downtown Nassau and even make pit stops while you’re en route to your destination.
Must Try:
- Conch Fritters at Drifters Da’Fish Fry
- Rum from John Watling's Distillery
- Rum Cake from Rum Cake Factory
Must See:
- Queen’s Staircase
