Curator’s statement
Susurros del Corazón, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, is a five-star, two-Michelin-key sanctuary nestled in Punta Mita, Mexico. Translated to "whispers of the heart," this resort offers a luxurious escape for beach lovers and food enthusiasts alike. My husband and I agreed it was the best hotel sleep we've ever had, and the exceptional dining — especially the unforgettable seafood pineapple — set a new standard for resort cuisine. With its thoughtful design, swimmable beach and genuinely attentive staff, Susurros del Corazón exudes warmth and authenticity. This was the setting for a decompressing vacation.

Checking in:
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a tray of cold beverages, including the option to add tequila. Forgoing a traditional front desk, the check-in experience took place in an air-conditioned lounge with an art gallery vibe. From there, our “cuate” (a term meaning “buddy” in Spanish) escorted us to our room.

The room:
Open and Airy Every aspect of the room's design considered guest comfort and functionality. The decor featured soothing neutrals with beach-inspired accents and natural elements, creating a harmonious atmosphere. Unlike most Punta Mita resorts built from the beach up, Susurros is constructed from the hill down, giving most rooms incredible ocean views. We requested a ground-floor room with a plunge pool, creating a private backyard experience. The spacious setup offered both privacy and tranquility — we never heard our neighbors. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we slept soundly every night.

Each room provides a beach poncho and hat.
The resort:
Surfer’s Paradise Susurros del Corazón is centered around water. The resort features a swimmable beach, perfect for surf lessons, and three cascading pools. The top pool is adults-only with a bar for some relaxation (or a party!), while the middle one is family-friendly, and the beach-level pool is right on the sand for easy access to the waves. Morning yoga classes are held on the grass next to the beach, adding a peaceful wellness touch to the experience.

Dining highlights:
Breakfast at Casamilpa: The complimentary breakfast was a highlight, with made-to-order options and a rotating selection of pastries and Mexican hot chocolate. We loved the fresh juices and fruit, but the standout dish was the quesabirrias (braised beef quesadillas).
Lunch at the Pool: Poolside dining included sushi, burgers, nachos and my favorite the tuna tostada. One of the days, we splurged on an over-the-pool cabana, which was lovely and included an Instagram-worthy fruit platter.
Dinner at La Boquita: Most evenings, we dined al fresco at La Boquita, enjoying stunning sunsets. The seafood pineapple was a memorable experience, and I still think about the shrimp and mango salad. The high-shelf tequilas impressed my connoisseur husband, and the bartender had fun mocktails for my daughter and me.

Weekly activities:
Culinary-Focused Auberge's focus on cuisine extends to its weekly activities. We enjoyed chocolate-dipped bananas one day and elote (Mexican street corn) the next — both fun, hands-on experiences
Spa & Gym: The gym felt like a high-end home setup — intimate yet well-equipped. The spa offered a tranquil space with iced tea, fruit and a sunlit outdoor cold plunge — a daily ritual for me. My daughter and I also golf-carted over to the tennis courts for some pickleball.

Special mention:
Housekeeping I have to say, housekeeping was top notch. Twice a day, the room was incredibly clean and well cared for. No harsh chemicals or intrusive smells. Just fresh and inviting.
The resort’s intimate size and personal service made us feel truly cared for—so much so that I hugged the morning hostess and cried when we left. It's a place where relaxation and restoration come naturally.
