Curator’s statement

Specializing in New York City bookings and itinerary planning, I quickly turned my attention to finding the perfect accommodation — one that is centrally located, affordable and ideal for a range of travelers. Whether catering to larger family groups, couples or individuals seeking value, my goal was to identify a property that offers comfort without compromise. The chosen hotel, Hotel Edison, is newly renovated and steeped in history. It stands in the heart of the city and provides guests with an exceptional stay at a reasonable price.

I spend a lot of time answering questions about New York City. The most common one is: "Where should we stay?" Travelers are often overwhelmed by the vast number of choices, distracted by nightly rates, safety concerns and destination fees. Let me put your mind at ease. Are you a family of five, six or more? Perhaps you're a mother bringing your teenage daughter into the city to see her idol perform, or a father taking your son to a game? Maybe you're a group of friends traveling together and needing separate rooms? Hotel Edison is perfect for you! Most of the rooms have been completely renovated within the last two years, and I can help you reserve the one that best suits your needs. Room configurations are varied, from Signature Queens, with or without a terrace, to spacious two-bedroom Family Suites, over 400 square feet, featuring a king bed and two full beds. Connecting room options include combining a king room with two queens to sleep seven, or two two-queen rooms to sleep nine. You might even get the luxury of two full bathrooms — what a bonus!

Hotel Edison is rich in history! Did you know that Thomas Edison himself turned on the marquee lights for the first time when Hotel Edison opened in 1931? It was the first Art Deco hotel in the Theater District. A true trendsetter, Hotel Edison's Art Deco architecture has left a lasting impression on many of the surrounding attractions and buildings.

Curious about the amenities? Hotel Edison offers two popular on-site dining options. First, there's Friedman’s, known for its all-day menu and focus on gluten-free cuisine, where diners can enjoy performances from talented Broadway singers doubling as servers. Then, there's Bond 45, a favorite among theatergoers and entertainers, serving rustic Italian fare. It's especially well-loved for its vegetable antipasto bar and all-day breakfast offerings.

What about the location?" Hotel Edison is situated in the heart of Times Square, putting you close to all major subway lines for easy access to any part of the city. Penn Station, located on 34th Street, provides connections to NJ Transit, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and Amtrak trains. Additionally, Grand Central Station, just a 20-minute walk away, offers Metro-North and Amtrak services.

And that’s not all! Hotel Edison is part of a group of five sister properties in the city, offering an exclusive perk: the Streetwise Neighborhood Walking Tours. As a guest at any of these hotels — Hotel Edison, The Iroquois, The Evelyn, Hotel Belleclaire or The Frederick — you can enjoy a complimentary tour, designed to help you explore and discover the unique character of the surrounding neighborhoods.

If you’re not convinced yet, check out these additional perks for hotel guests:

  • Daily grab & go breakfast for two

  • Triumph Wine Hours

  • Premium wi-fi on up to three devices per room

  • Bottled water in room

  • 15% discount on laundry service
