Whether you're seeking an intimate luxury retreat, an all-inclusive experience, or a trendy hotspot, Los Cabos has the perfect accommodation. Here's a guide to some of my favorite hotels in the area:
Grand Velas Los Cabos: All-inclusive done right
If you’re skeptical about all-inclusive resorts, Grand Velas Los Cabos might change your mind. This upscale resort is located between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo and offers a truly luxurious experience.
Rooms: Each room has a private terrace with ocean views, and some even come with their own plunge pools.
Dining: With seven restaurants on site — including the Michelin-starred Cocina de Autor — you’ll have plenty of dining options. There are also five bars, a coffee shop and 24-hour room service.
Amenities: The resort features three infinity pools with ocean views, a private beach area, a fitness center and a top-notch spa. Families will appreciate the kids' club and teen lounge, while couples can enjoy adults-only areas for some peace and quiet.
ME Cabo: A trendy beach escape
ME Cabo is a great choice if you’re looking for a lively atmosphere right on the beach.
Location: Situated on Playa El Medano — one of the few swimmable beaches in Los Cabos — this hotel is just a short walk from downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Atmosphere: With its fun vibe, ME Cabo is perfect for young adults and groups. The beach club is popular for both daytime lounging and nighttime festivities.
Dining and Nightlife: The hotel features several restaurants, including a rooftop lounge with great views and creative cocktails. Plus, it’s LGBTQ+ friendly, making it an inclusive choice for all travelers.
The Cape: Modern style with stunning views
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel offers modern design and breathtaking views of the coastline.
Design: This hotel features contemporary architecture by Mexican designers that gives it an urban feel.
Rooms: All rooms have ocean views and private balconies. For extra space, consider one of the one- or two-bedroom residences that come with a personal concierge service.
Dining: There are five restaurants on-site, including a rooftop bar that overlooks the famous El Arco rock formation. Manta offers innovative Mexican cuisine that’s well worth trying.
Amenities: Enjoy an outdoor pool with live DJ sets (Thursday through Saturday), a fitness center and a unique spa designed for relaxation. The Cape is ideal for couples or solo travelers wanting a stylish escape from the busy downtown area.
One&Only Palmilla: A luxurious retreat
One&Only Palmilla combines classic Mexican charm with modern luxury in an impressive setting.
Location: This resort spans 55 acres overlooking the Sea of Cortez and features one of the few swimmable beaches in Los Cabos.
Accommodations: Choose from various rooms and suites — some offer private balconies with day beds or even private pools and hot tubs.
Dining: There are four excellent restaurants on-site to satisfy your culinary cravings.
Amenities: One&Only Palmilla is known for its high level of hospitality. With a 24-hour fitness center, kids club, two outdoor pools (including an adults-only option) and attentive service, it’s a popular spot for celebrities seeking luxury in a serene environment.
Need to know
When planning your trip to Cabo, one crucial thing to keep in mind is that not all beaches are safe for swimming. While the stunning coastlines are a major draw, many beaches have strong currents, steep drop-offs and rough waves that can make swimming risky.
