Site Inspection at Umana Bali LXR in Bali, Indonesia
Curator’s statement

In April of 2024, I had the pleasure to do a site inspection while staying at the breathtaking resort Umana Bali. Located at the southernmost region of the island, Uluwatu, this cliffside resort is truly enchanting. The accommodations are all villa style and the hospitality of the locals and staff will enhance your experience while being there. With the delicious local cuisine being served on the property and catching a beautiful sunset from your private infinity pool inside of your villa, the time you spend there will undeniably be cherished by all that have chance to visit this property.

Where to stay

Location

The resort is located approximately 17km south of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) where you will be arriving in Bali, Indonesia. I recommend booking an airport transfer ahead of time (can be arranged by the resort) or using the Grab application to get a ride to the property, as at certain times, the traffic can make a usually 30-minute ride a 45 to 50 minute ride.

Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the security gate and then shortly after will arrive at the main lobby area, which is an open-air-style lobby with remarkable views of the property and cultural art pieces around the lobby. While checking in, I was given complimentary refreshments and a cold face towel and then was escorted to my room via a golf cart. Once arriving to my room, I was greeted with a thank you letter from the staff as well as coconuts with my name engraved on them.

Lodging

All of the room options are private villas, ranging from a one-bedroom tropical garden pool villa up to a three-bedroom Umana ocean pool villa. The sheer size of these villas, even the base room, is incredible. Each villa is equipped with a private infinity pool, hot tub, indoor and outdoor rain showers, a hot tub and various areas to relax and dine in within the villa its self.

My room

I booked the one-bedroom tropical garden pool villa but was given an upgrade to the one-bedroom ocean pool villa on arrival. Surrounded by lush green landscapes, this modern, private villa was 4,337 sq. ft. and it included a private infinity pool, separate bathroom and toilet areas, king-sized bed and an elegantly designed interior with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing a great amount of natural lighting. Indoors, there is a minibar, kitchen area, living room and dining room and outdoors had a variety of lounge chairs and day beds to soak in the sun. It is highly recommended to keep the doors closed when not in use because of the friendly neighbors of monkeys might see themselves into your room!

On-site amenities

Located on the property, there are two main restaurants, Oliverra and Commune, where you can try local cuisine and also experience fine dining while taking in views of the Indian Ocean. Upon request, you can experience a floating breakfast in the privacy of your villa's infinity pool as well. There is also a poolside bar and lounge within the property as well. There is a spa, fitness center and a kids club.

Things to do

Melasti Beach is just minutes away from the resort, and the property offers complimentary rides to and from the beach. While at the beach, you can relax and take in the sun, experience the warm water of the Indian Ocean or enjoy cold drinks while catching the sunset at one of the many beach clubs located within walking distance. You can also spend a day on the green at the Bali National Golf Club and New Kuta Golf. Shop at Bali Collection, or immerse yourself in culture at Uluwatu Temple. While you are there, don't miss out on the opportunities to explore the nature of the island like the waterfalls and cultural parks to learn more about this beautiful paradise island.

Need to know

I recommend Umana Bali to my clients looking for a couple's getaway or a medium-sized group of people who want to enjoy a relaxing, serene resort together. This would also be a stunning location for a wedding, anniversaries and also a honeymoon. Contact me and let me plan your perfect getaway in Bali!
