Site Inspection at DoubleTree by Hilton Berlin Ku'Damm in Berlin, Germany
Curator’s statement

In May of 2024, I was able to go on a site inspection of the DoubleTree Berlin Ku’Damm as it is a new hotel in a great location of Berlin, my current home city. The wonderful staff are there for all your needs in this modern-looking establishment and you are even greeted with a warm cookie. Located next to public transportation and Berlin’s best shopping district, this hotel provides a great location for traveling Berlin, while being in a safe, quieter area where you can relax after each day.

Location

The DoubleTree Berlin Ku’damm is located right off of Berlin’s best shopping street, Kurfürstendamm, around a small park known as Los-Angeles-Platz. This is a safe area of Berlin where you will be able to relax in peace being close enough to some great sites and shopping, while being far enough away to be quiet in the evenings. This hotel is a 30-minute car or taxi ride from BER Airport, or a 40-minute train ride to Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof (Train station of the Berlin Zoo) and a short 12-minute walk to the hotel. From the hotel, you will be within walking distance of the U-Bahn and S-Bahn (metro and city railway) that will get you all around the city of Berlin.

Hotel

This brand new hotel only opened in October of 2023, which means all of the rooms, dining, lounge, and more are very modern and clean. This hotel is great for families and all travelers, but also has great facilities for businesses looking for conference spaces and group retreats. The hotel has 420 rooms that include: king/queen or two-twin guest rooms, superior rooms, deluxe rooms, junior suites, one- or two-bedroom suites and family connecting suites. Each room is equipped with a mini fridge, 55-inch TV, safe and more. The hotel features 10 conference rooms for bigger companies to utilize with two main rooms able to connect into one larger conference room, eight small breakout rooms and an open-space foyer to convene on the first floor. There is also a bar in the lobby and a great restaurant on the ground floor for breakfast buffet or dinner that has two side rooms that can be booked, one for a group of about 10 and the other for up to 48 with a private buffet. Lastly, the hotel features an open-space fitness center with a variety of equipment and filtered water, as well as two sauna rooms at 60 and 90 degrees Celsius.

Things to do

This shopping street is filled with many high-end name brands, such as Dior and Chanel, as well as some great restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe Berlin, Upper Burger Grill and the Kantini at Bikini Berlin. You will also be only a couple minutes' walk from Breitscheidplatz, which features the iconic Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church that was mostly destroyed during World War II, as well as a beautiful Christmas market from mid-November to early January. You will also be within walking distance to the Berlin Zoo and Aquarium, the oldest surviving zoo in all of Germany. Connected to the zoo is the Tiergarten, a beautiful park with lots of paths to walk and bike along — from the Zoo, this will lead you on about a 50-minute walk towards the Reichstag (Parliament building) and Brandenburg Gate, the iconic sites of Berlin.

Need to know

I would recommend the DoubleTree Berlin Ku'Damm for any guests looking to have a relaxing time in Berlin in a safe neighborhood. There are plenty of great restaurants, sites and public transportation nearby to the hotel, as well as a Christmas market in the winter months.
