Curator’s statement
In October 2023, I did a site inspection while staying at the gorgeous Jashita Tulum Boutique Hotel in Tulum, Mexico. Located on the calm waters of Soliman Bay, this luxe hotel welcomed us to unplug and reconnect with ourselves, each other and nature. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a secluded, relaxing getaway.

Located on the calm waters of Soliman Bay, just north of Tulum, sits the luxurious Jashita Tulum. With direct flights from the United States to Tulum's new international airport, you can be on the beach in less than an hour after landing!
I stayed here for five glorious nights in October soaking up the sun and never felt the urge to leave the resort! The pampering begins as soon as you set foot on the property. When you arrive, you are ushered into an air-conditioned reception area and offered water, a godsend even in October! Once checked in, you are escorted to your room and offered a resort tour while your bags are brought up. It is stairs only, so if you have accessibility concerns be sure to book a ground-level room.
After settling in, grab your suits and hit the beach or one of the property's three pools. They have a rooftop infinity pool, an adults-only pool next to the beach bar and a family pool. We happened to be the only people with kids while staying, so we had a defacto private pool! The beach is a beautiful, calm crescent of sand lined with thatched roof palapas and comfy lounges and towels available on the beach so you don't have to schlep them from the room. For the most part, people understood this isn't the type of place you have to "reserve your seat" first thing in the morning. The best part is no pesky sargassum due to the double-layered net installed at the edge of the bay!
The restaurant hotel is Italian, which I thought was odd at first glance, but let me tell you that it is odd in the best way! Yes, you can get some Mexican staples, i.e. guacamole and chips. But you can also have a heavenly lobster ravioli while overlooking the Caribbean. The service in the restaurant is unfussy, but elegant. Casual dress is acceptable during breakfast and lunch. Resort elegant for dinner. They catered to my one-year-old by bringing her snacks and milk and whatever else her heart desired! They even special cooked her scrambled eggs every morning. Oh, and try the chicken wings, trust me!
The beach bar is again, fantastic. It's cute to sit at because they have swing seats. The drinks are appropriately strong without overdoing it, and they also make great fresh fruit smoothies! The bar staff allow you to get settled on the beach or by the pool and show up to take your order before you wonder where they are. They will bring out food, too. No pesky wristbands here. Everything is charged to your room. By the second day, the staff knew who we were and we only had to sign a check daily after dinner.
The rooms are comfortable and modern. Our room had a nice size bathroom with walk-in shower, a king-size bed and a jungle-view balcony with a plunge pool. The AC worked well and everything was comfortable. One nice addition is they provide you with a beach bag for use while there.
The spa offers indoor and oceanside treatments. I opted for the oceanside Mayan Ancestral treatment that started with a Mayan Purification ceremony, followed by an energetic massage using native oils to balance the mind and soul and rearrange the energies. It continued with a herbal bath in a bathtub made of mahogany. I was totally blissed out when it was over.
