Hotel Spotlight: Chateau Denmark in Soho, London
Curator’s statement

Staying in London for a long weekend as a stopover on our way to Italy, my husband and I were more than pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem of a hotel. Chateau Denmark is perfect for travelers looking to be immersed in the youthful energy of London while still being steps from Historic sites. It's an innovative new hotel concept that offers apartment-style rooms without shared hotel spaces. Along with the truly 5-star service from our butler, this made our stay feel private and luxe. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to my clients.

London is steeped in history, but if you’re looking for something less Liberty florals and more rock-n-roll, Chateau Denmark fits the bill.

You’ll find this new hotel concept in SoHo on Denmark Street, where The Sex Pistols once recorded & Elton John hung out. It’s located on a property that includes large-scale digital art installations, high end restaurants and a live music venue. The lobby is more of a concierge desk and there are no communal spaces save the stylish bar Thirteen, but the in-room amenities and level of service from the butlers more than make up for it.

The design is just the right amount of over-the-top - bold, sexy and made for a party. The hallmark of each room is the bar. It’s stocked with an amazing selection of wine, champagne and rare liquors. But it’s really the attention to detail for me. You'll find sparkling water on tap, fresh lemon juice and a line each day, your own ice maker and all the bar tools you need for a fancy cocktail (or a few!)

The ambiance is set by an integrated lighting system featuring a low-lit "party" mode, and each room features a high end surround sound speaker system. You can connect by bluetooth or pull up a playlist inspired by the specific room.

Though the rock-n-roll inspiration is obvious, the room also invites relaxation. Bathrooms feature an incredible rain shower and heated floors. The bed linens are luxe and most rooms include a balcony for a breath of fresh air.

Outside of the hotel itself, the location is fantastic and uber convenient. There is a central line tube station just behind the hotel to take you throughout the City, but you may not want to leave. The vibrant neighborhood is home to chic restaurants, cocktail bars, shopping and historic pubs. It's also walking distance to key sites like Hyde Park & The British Museum.

Need to know

Chateau Denmark is not your traditional London hotel, but that's just what I love about it. The staff go out of their way to make any and everyone feel at home. It is the perfect home base for a romantic getaway or for a celebratory group trip, I would highly recommend checking out their two-bedroom apartments. Since it is an 18+ property, expect to see some cheeky innuendo.
