How to Spend 48 Hours in Aspen in the Winter Without Skiing
Curator’s statement

Ah, Aspen. A skier's paradise. But what happens when your girlfriends aren't in the mood to ski or don't want to pay for an Aspen day pass? You go anyway! Here's how my girlfriends and I spent a quick weekend in one of the most well-known ski towns in America. Hint: it includes a lot of dirty martinis.

Where to stay

Where we stayed:

Mollie Aspen is the newest hotel in town, and named after Aspen's most successful silver mine back in the day - Mollie Gibson. It's situated right on the edge of town, but walking distance to so many shops and restaurants. There's a large hot tub on the rooftop overlooking the mountain. They offer complimentary shuttle service (in your own private Rivian, I might add), and have delicious cocktails and breakfast. The aesthetic is a neutral girlie dream, featuring design aspects from both Japanese and Scandinavian influence.

Where we indulged:

Clark's Oyster Bar: I know, I know. Oysters in Central USA? As far away from oyster territory as you can get? Trust me! Hit up from 3 pm–5 pm if you're in on a weekday.

White House Tavern: A cozy vibe with a little fire. You have to try their French Dip on homemade sourdough. TBH, I don't love their cocktails, so maybe stick with beer or wine for this stop.

Meat & Cheese: If you're a fan of charcuterie, this is your spot. Locally and sustainably sourced is their thing, and it shows. Pop in for a meal, or just grab some snacks for the slopes!

Unravel Coffee + Bar: A community-focused joint with simply delicious coffee. Let me know how the cocktails are!

Late night:

Stop into Hotel Jerome, an Aspen Institution, for cocktails.

Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar: If you arrive earlier in the evening, snag an aperol spritz. If you're going later, expect minimal lighting and vibey music, so stick with a mixed drink or beer.

Buck: One of the last standing "locals" bars. Shhh.

What to do:

Visit the Maroon Bells via a snowmobiling tour. I know some great suppliers!

Shop, duh! From designer brands to great thrift and vintage stores, there's something for everyone. Don't forget to check out the only brick-and-mortar Revolve store! I can get you a list of my favorite vintage spots.

Hot Springs: Okay, so they're not right in Aspen. If you have a rental car, I can give you some great tips from resort style to au-natural thermal springs to relax after all your shopping.

Ride the gondola! If you're not skiing but still want some sick views, you can pay for a ticket to head to the top and just hop back on for the ride down.

Take a day trip to one of the more low-key nearby towns — Basalt and Carbondale might not be as luxurious, but there's definitely some hidden gems there.

Need to know

While Aspen is known for a more 'rich and luxurious' scene, I find that everyone is still pretty chill and down-to-earth. Everyone is just happy to be in the mountains and wants to have a good time. There's so much to do in Aspen other than ski, and the above is just a short list. Let's connect and plan a trip curated just for you! And if you're thinking of heading there in the summer or fall, my list is even longer!
