Curator’s statement
I had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton Luxor with my family on our recent trip to Egypt over spring break in early April. We stayed here for 2 nights which was the perfect amount of time to explore the area and visit the major sites. The hotel is centrally located on the east bank and right on the Nile River.

Rooms:
There are 236 rooms divided between 2 buildings. Entry level rooms are the standard rooms (without views), partial Nile view, Nile view, 24 deluxe rooms and 9 suites. All of the Deluxe rooms & suites have full Nile views. We were in 2 partial Nile view rooms which had small balconies overlooking the main pool onto the Nile River. A plus for families is that there are connecting rooms and a 3rd bed is allowed at an extra fee. High season runs from October to April with the shoulder season being May & September. It is HOT in the summer with less tourists coming in June-August. I would describe this property as a solid 4 star hotel and currently the top luxury hotel in the area until the Four Seasons opens (currently under construction.)
Food & Beverage:
-The breakfast buffet at Roseta was great and breakfast was included in our stay. No complaints. They are also open for dinner.
-Olives is the restaurant at the pool and the food was just ok, but a great spot to watch the sunset.
-Fateer House is a small Egyptian restaurant down by the felucca boats that I didn't discover until we were leaving so I don't have feedback.
-Mocktails is a cute "bar" on the spa patio serving mocktails, smoothies and snacks (only open during spa hours.)
-Sunset Bar is at the pool. Stick with the wine and beer.
Amenities:
Gym- There was a small gym located down by the felucca boats. Nothing fancy but had cardio equipment and weights.
Spa- There is a lovely spa with steam/sauna/hangout rooms (divided with women on one side and males on the other). Treatment rooms are closer to the back of the property and have beautiful views of the Nile River.
Pools- There are 2 pools. The main/large pool (see attached pic) which is open to everyone and a 16yo and up Infinity pool (heated in winter) located by the spa.
Pros:
-The hotel has a great position right on the east bank of the Nile which makes for epic sunsets. There are felucca boats available (for a fee) right at the hotel to go out on the river as well.
-The hotel felt safe, lively during the day and quiet for sleeping at night.
-The large main pool had plenty of lounge chairs and the adult only pool was a peaceful oasis
Cons:
-The F&B (minus the breakfast buffet) could use some improvement.
-The rooms are a bit dated- fine but darker/clunkier furniture. Not a modern decor.
Not hotel related, but if you visit Luxor do NOT miss booking the sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings. It was incredible (minus the 3:45am departure time).
