3 Days at Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection
Curator’s statement

With 300 days of sunshine a year, Aspen is always a good idea - whether winter, spring, summer or fall. There are many amazing luxury hotels to choose from, world-class restaurants to experience, high-end luxury shopping and plenty of activities to do whether you're hitting the slopes or not. I had the opportunity to stay at the iconic Hotel Jerome at the tail end of ski season in April, and it did not disappoint. If you love history with a mix of modern amenities, incredible food & beverages, spacious rooms with big soaking bathtubs, great hospitality and appreciate a unique sense of place, Hotel Jerome is the perfect place for you to rest-well and play well in town. You can choose to have privacy here at this hotel, but it is also the spot in town to see and be seen.

Hotel Jerome, part of Auberge Resorts Collection, is an iconic landmark and luxury hotel in the heart of Aspen. You can literally feel Aspen's history dating back to the late 1800's when you step through its doors. You will naturally experience the heartbeat of the old mining mountain town as you spend time in its rooms, common spaces, restaurants & bars. Hotel Jerome bridges the old and the new through its mountain-modern contemporary design and has some of the most spacious hotel rooms in all of Aspen.

The hotel features 99 guest rooms from Deluxe to Presidential, with most having an influence of traditional Western decor, with a deeper color palette. I stayed in a Deluxe King room with floor-to-ceiling windows facing Aspen Mountain, overlooking the heated pool and hot tub. It felt incredibly spacious at 525 square feet. My room had a big, marble, soaking bathtub with lovely bath salts and eucalyptus, which I enjoyed before and after hitting the slopes. My room was very quiet and was somewhat dimly lit, which I didn't mind after a long day of activities and socializing. Each room has a fully stocked minibar with local brands, as well as a Nespresso machine, which always comes in handy on slow mornings spent in the bathtub. I definitely put on one of their cozy robes and slippers on multiple occasions, and made my way down to the hot tub and heated pool for a solo swim.

Hotel Jerome also has two spacious private three-bedroom residences in a separate building, with a much lighter color palette, access to resort amenities, a dedicated 24-hour concierge, and complementary use of Mercedes Benz vehicles. The residences are great for larger parties, or for someone who wants heightened privacy and a sense of being at home. For each residence, you will have your own separate elevator entrance, over 2,000 square feet of space, expansive outdoor patios and beautiful mountain views. Both residences are decorated so beautifully that I would honestly live in one of them. Imagine a Ralph Lauren neutral runway collection covering the walls, furniture and linens of these residences - it's divine.

Beyond the rooms, suites and residences, Hotel Jerome Aspen has a heated pool, hot tub, fitness center and over 6,000 square feet of flexible event space. They also have an intimate boutique spa called Yarrow, which focuses on spa treatments featuring natural elements and botanicals found in the Rocky Mountains. I didn't have a chance to experience the spa during my stay, but it was very aesthetically pleasing and peaceful from what I saw. They have separate steam showers for men & women, plus they offer a complementary signature ground botanical foot soak with any scheduled service, so I would definitely make an appointment ahead of your stay.

There are plenty of options to dine and drink at Hotel Jerome, depending on what you're looking for during your stay. I ventured out into Aspen to experience many of the local spots during my 3-Day stay, but I could see myself getting cozy at the hotel and not needing or wanting to leave the hotel with all of their great food & beverage options. There is also 24-hour, in-room dining if you really don't want to venture out.

Prospect serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is rooted in the land and rich history of the area. If you are looking for a unique dinner experience, try their journey or taste of the land menu, with an optional Colorado beverage pairing. I recommend breakfast here, unless you're looking for specialty coffee and pastries, then I'd suggest heading to the beautifully designed Felix Roasting Co.

J-Bar feels like an upscale Western restaurant and bar, deep in history and with a laid-back vibe. Definitely go here for lunch, dinner or drinks anytime.

If you're wanting an even more casual yet chic option, order some food or drinks off the bar menu in the Living Room by the cozy fireplace. This is the spot I post up the most while I'm getting a little work done, meeting up with friends or just people watching with a great cocktail.

Bad Harriet is the subterranean bar downstairs with a bespoke cocktail experience. Reservations are not required, but I would highly suggest making them if you are there in high season.

The Garden is open in the summer season in the street-side courtyard between the main building, the residences and the pool. It's magical looking out at Aspen Mountain while you're having lunch, drinks or dinner. I'm a big fan of Aspen in the summer.

I had a truly amazing 3-Day stay at Hotel Jerome and highly recommend it to all of my clients. Its central location, historic charm, commitment to excellence, strong food & beverage programming, helpful concierge and unique sense of place has stuck with me long after I've left. With 300 days of sunshine a year here, you cannot go wrong visiting in winter, spring, summer or fall. I would love to help you plan your next stay here in Aspen.

Need to know

Hotel Jerome is located in the middle of downtown Aspen, so it's not ski-in/ski-out, but it is a quick 3-5-minute ride to Aspen Mountain (Ajax) and roughly a 15-20 -minute drive to Snowmass Mountain. The hotel has a complementary shuttle service from/to the airport available upon request. This is a great place to stay for solo travelers, couples, girl's/guy's getaway or even a family trip. The staff is super accommodating and will help tailor your stay to your needs. The hotel is private but lively. All of the common spaces, restaurants and bars are a great place to see and be seen.
