Our first stop was Hamburg, where we indulged in the city's vibrant culinary scene. The espresso martinis at Gastwerk Hotel Hamburg set the tone for our gastronomic exploration. We savored the iconic Schnitzel at Hatari Pfalzer Stube and ventured into the world of seafaring cuisine with the famous Labskaus, a hearty dish of corned beef, mashed potatoes and pickled accompaniments. Don't miss the currywurst at Bruzzelhutte or the delectable Franzbrötchen pastry. Strolling along the picturesque Deichstraße and exploring the lush Planten un Blomen park added a touch of tranquility to our urban adventure.
Goslar, a charming town nestled in the Harz Mountains, captivated us with its picture-perfect streets and half-timbered houses. Frankfurt, our next stop, offered a delightful blend of modern and historic attractions. The Kleinmarkthalle food hall was a culinary haven, where we relished the iconic Grüne Soße (green sauce) and meatballs from Hausfrauenkost. The Römerberg square, with its stunning half-timbered houses, and the Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge) provided breathtaking views of the city skyline.
Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria, welcomed us with open arms. During Oktoberfest, the city comes alive with beer festivals, concerts and an infectious energy. We indulged in pretzels and beer at the iconic Paulaner am Nockherberg brewery and savored delectable matcha at NeoSociety Munich. The Flushing Meadows Hotel rooftop bar and Ory Bar offered stunning vistas, while Bar Centrale provided a lively atmosphere. For those attending concerts at Olympiapark München, we highly recommend dining at Gorreshof Wirtshaus for its delicious fare and convenient location.
Beyond the culinary delights, Munich offered a wealth of outdoor experiences. Watching daredevils surf the Eisbach river, sipping beer in the Chinesischer Turm garden, and strolling through the English Garden were highlights of our visit. Don't miss the iconic Marienplatz square and consider taking a walking tour to uncover the city's rich history.
Throughout our journey, we found Germany to be a welcoming destination for travelers with pets. Most hotels were pet-friendly, allowing us to explore with our furry companion by our side. Driving through the country was a breeze, making it easy to navigate from one captivating destination to the next.
Whether you're a foodie, history buff or outdoor enthusiast, Germany offers an array of experiences that will leave you enchanted. Embark on your own road trip adventure and discover the hidden gems that make this country truly remarkable.
