Delray Beach, Florida: Insider's Guide to the Village by the Sea
Curator’s statement

My home away from home, Delray Beach, Florida, the village by the sea. When in town, you can find me paddle boarding off the beach at Seagate Beach Club. Have a tuna poke bowl at Brûlée or a Rose’s Daughter freshly made pizza, and end the day with a sunset stroll on the beach. From the golden sands to the ocean blues filled with marine life, there are not many places that compare to its alluring qualities. As of 2024, Delray Beach was internationally ranked as a Blue Flag beach as well as the #1 beach in the state of Florida. Delray has a chill beach town vibe by day that is met with a vibrant night life filled with live music, art and delicious local cuisine.

Delray Beach is known for its many local gourmet-style restaurants right on the Ave or only foot-steps away. Many restaurants have specials up to 50 percent off select menu items during slower hours and days of the week. With so many restaurants, the dinner choices are endless. There is every type of cuisine you can imagine from Thai, Italian, Mediterranean, Asian, Mexican, American and Modern American.

My top brunch places to go to would be: Costa by OK&M, providing modern local cuisine. Cafe Luna Rosa, located on A1A across the street from the beach, where you can find a traditional breakfast menu and Delray Sands Resort’s restaurant right on the beach. For me, being a health nut, I enjoy PurLife Cafe’s smoothies and salad bowls for a light breakfast of lunch.

Delray is also a small hub for many artists, with galleries on every corner, live music almost every night and an artist warehouse where someone can lease out their own studio. There are always events going on at Old School Square, located in the heart of Delray. This includes live concerts, the local Wednesday night drum circle, the Saturday Farmer’s Market, Art Festivals and the 100ft Christmas Tree that lights up the night during the holiday season.

As for the time of the year to go, the lively busy season starts in October and ends in May. The most activity is during the months of November, December, January and February when the Florida heat is milder. For a quieter, more laid-back time, the summer months are the time to visit.
