Curator’s statement
For Festive Season 2024, my family spent some time taking in the holiday sights around NYC, staying at the historic Intercontinental New York Barclay. This property is well located in Midtown. It is just about a 10-minute walk to any of the popular sites, including Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Times Square and Central Park. For how busy the property was, we felt well taken care of by the staff. I would recommend this to couples or families looking to be centrally located but not in the hustle and bustle of Times Square.

Location
Located in Midtown East, with a short walk to all the major sites including Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building and Times Square. Train options include about a 5-minute walk to Grand Central Station. There are additionally two subway stations a few blocks away. Since this is NYC, it's easy to hail a yellow cab or use a rideshare to get around locally or to and from the airport.
Room categories
There are multiple room categories throughout the property, ranging from King or two-double bed rooms, high-floor options, adjoining rooms, suites and club level rooms.
Amenities
This is an NYC hotel, after all, so amenities are limited. There is a fitness center with cardio equipment, free weights and a Peloton bike. There is 20,000 sq/ft of meeting space, including a ballroom for special events. Parking is valet-only and $85. Dining is limited to their lobby restaurant The Parlour, which also hosts a large bar. Breakfast is included in rates and was delicious and well-stocked, with both continental and hot items.
Club Intercontinental
Club-level rooms or certain rates offer Club Level access at Club Intercontinental. Located right off the lobby, it offers a business center, lounge seating, all-day beverage service, continental breakfast and other light bites throughout the day.
Need to know
I recommend Intercontinental New York Barclay to couples or families looking for an elevated property near, but not directly in the hustle and bustle of the city center. It provides that classic New York feel with comfortable accommodations that are more spacious than most. Reach out and let me plan your perfect New York City adventure!
