I’ve always dreamed of visiting Necker Island, Sir Richard Branson’s private paradise in the British Virgin Islands, and this year, that dream finally became a reality. From the moment I stepped onto the iconic red dock, I could feel the magic in the air — this was no ordinary destination.
Necker Island is truly the epitome of luxury and natural beauty. The island is lush and unspoiled, with vibrant greenery, soft sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters that make it feel like a hidden gem. Exclusively for guests, the island is peaceful and private, with just a few other lucky travelers. There are no overwhelming crowds — just a serene escape from the world.
I stayed in one of the beautifully designed villas. Each offers stunning views of the turquoise ocean, and the attention to detail in every aspect of the accommodations was remarkable. The décor blended Caribbean elegance with a relaxed, chic vibe, and the outdoor spaces were perfect for lounging by the pool or dining al fresco.
The service on Necker Island was impeccable. The staff went out of their way to cater to every need, whether it was arranging a water sports adventure or preparing a personalized gourmet meal. I felt incredibly pampered, and every experience was tailored to my preferences.
While the island is all about relaxation, there’s no shortage of activities to enjoy. From hiking and tennis to yoga sessions at sunrise, there’s something for everyone. The island even offers the opportunity to connect with the local wildlife. You can feed flamingos and give treats to lemurs. You can watch other exotic animals such as giant tortoises and baby kangaroos roam freely, adding to the feeling of being in an untouched paradise.
A memorable moment was trying kitesurfing for the first time. Though I didn’t have time for proper training (which takes several days), one of the instructors was kind enough to let me hop on his back for a short ride (we even did a jump in the air) to get a taste of the adventure.
Overall, my first visit to Necker Island exceeded all my expectations. It’s the ultimate luxury retreat — secluded, beautiful and personalized in every way. Whether you’re looking to unwind in nature or enjoy exclusive adventures, Necker Island offers it all. I can’t wait for my next visit!
