Exploring the Hidden Gems in Bucharest, Romania
Curator’s statement

There's so much to explore in Eastern Europe and Bucharest has been on my bucket list. I got to visit Bucharest, Romania in March of 2023 and was thoroughly impressed by all the city had to offer from the history, dining, spas, hotels and things to do. I stayed at the InterContinental Athenee and was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, rooms and facilities and location of the hotel. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to all of my clients looking to explore more parts of Europe.

Bucharest, often overshadowed by other European capitals, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by adventurous travelers. Nestled in the heart of Romania, Bucharest exudes a unique charm with its blend of history, culture and modernity. From its grand architecture to its vibrant nightlife, there's something for every type of explorer. Staying at the luxurious InterContinental Athenee offers not just comfort but also a stunning view of the city skyline, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Bucharest's beauty from the moment they wake up. We had a double balcony and could see out onto the main plaza square. The breakfast was amazing at Roberto's fit with so many fruits, a fresh egg station and more.

For those seeking relaxation, Ida Spa provides a haven of tranquility where weary travelers can unwind with rejuvenating treatments. I went there everyday and even visited both locations in Dorobanti and Corbenca. The intensive muscle massages and lymphatic drainage were so amazing and much needed along with their fire and ice facial. Also, their masseuses and estheticians were skillfully trained and so amazing.

And when it comes to dining experiences, Kaiamo offers a culinary journey through Romanian flavors with a modern twist, tantalizing taste buds and leaving a lasting impression. Moreover, Bucharest surprises with its health-conscious options, such as the refreshing juices and açaí bowls at Rio, and the wholesome fare and aromatic coffee at Ototo, ensuring visitors can maintain their wellness routines even while on vacation. I loved the vast selection of chocolates, gourmet foods and kombuchas, I purchased several as souvenirs and went back to Ototo everyday. With its blend of old-world charm and contemporary allure, Bucharest is an enchanting destination that deserves a coveted spot on every traveler's bucket list.

Need to know

I would highly recommend booking treatments at Ida Spa, we even fit in a pilates session at a nearby studio. Bucharest is great for a solo trip, girls' trip or couples or group trip.
