Scented Hot Springs and Serenity at the Art Spa Hotel in Jiaoxi, Taiwan
Curator’s statement

I stayed at the Resort One Hotel in October, 2024, which included spa and breakfast access to the neighboring Art Spa Hotel. The hotels and spa had everything I could want and more for a relaxing getaway. Just a two-hour train ride from Taipei, you'll find everything you could want and more for a relaxing getaway at this family-friendly destination.

I stayed at the Resort One Hotel for a few nights, along with a friend who lives in Taipei. Our room was excellent, with a wonderful view, snacks and beverages. I loved the lounge room, separate from the library and the Japanese baths with water from the hot springs. Just a building away from the Art Spa Hotel, we had easy, complimentary access to the hot springs, spa, pool and waterslide and breakfast buffet there! We ended up adjusting our schedule to spend our last half day at the Art Spa Hotel, because we loved it so much! Besides hanging out in the spa, we loved exploring this quaint township. Across the street from our hotel, we had excellent cuisine at Yufuin Japanese Hot Pot Restaurant. But we didn't just stay in Jiaoxi, we took a 7-minute train ride to Toucheng Township to soak up the sand and sea at Wai'ao Beach.

Art Spa World amenities

  • Natural spring pools from 27 degrees C (80.6 degrees F) to 42 degrees C (107.6 degrees F). Added floral and fruit scents color the pools for a delightful experience.

  • Hot stone slabs for a full-body hot stone massage.

  • Sulfur mud pool.

  • Cold plunge pool 10–16 degrees C (50–60 degrees F).

  • Indoor and outdoor heated massage pools. (Different areas of the pools focus jet massage on different areas of the body).

Need to know

The Art Spa Hotel, directly connected to the spa includes in-room hot spring tubs. The adjacent Resort One Hotel has Japanese-style hot spring baths and a lounge room. Both hotels include a complimentary breakfast buffet with American, European and Asian cuisine.

Please note that all guests using the spa are required to wear a swim cap and swimwear that covers the torso and upper thighs. These are common swimwear requirements when visiting a spa or pool in Taiwan. Swimwear is available for purchase at the spa store. I bought a swim cap on site and wore a one-piece swimsuit with an open back and running shorts.
