The Four Seasons Astir Place - The Athens Riviera
Curator’s statement

In July 2024, my husband and decided to embark on a 20-day cruise from Athens to Venice. The cruise offered hotels in the city, but we chose to stay at the Astir Place to relax before we sailed. I had no idea how great the service and beauty of this property were.

Where to stay

The Four Seasons Astir Place is a stunning resort with a history dating back to the 1960s. This iconic property on the private peninsula of Vouliagmeni has an aristocratic and colorful history.

Four Seasons bought the property in 2016. It was very well-renovated, but it kept most of the style that was already there.

The hotel has 303 suites in two buildings (Nafskia and Arion). There are also many bungalows that are near the beach on the cliff side and are the most private. The Nafskia Building (where we stayed) has a beautiful view, a big pool and a small beach area. It also has many restaurants and bars, including their Italian restaurant Mercato, which is also their breakfast buffet, Avra Bar. And Helios, which has a Latin feel and delicious tacos and margaritas by the pool.

Arion is a short walk or golf cart ride down the hill. It has a spa with beautiful treatment rooms that look out over the sea. There is also Aristotle's (a whiskey and cigar bar), Pelagos (a stylish, one-Michelin Star restaurant) and Taverna 37, which is on the beach. Both restaurants serve Greek dishes that are seasonal and delicious. The pool at Arion is adults only and the views from the suites are incredible and offer the most amazing sunsets.

There are other restaurants on the property, including Matsuhisa and Beefbar — all easily accessible via golf cart.

The resort also has a lot for people who want to be active. It has a new fitness center, an outdoor walking/jogging trail, studio classes and three tennis courts. There is something for everyone at Astir Place.

This is a very fancy, expensive property that would be good for families, honeymooners and couples who want a special vacation near Athens without the city life.

Need to know

The season is usually only six months, May–October however, the resort is open year-round. Astron and the bungalows close for the off season unless there is an event or buyout. However, this part of Greece is warm all year, so it is also a great option for off-season travel.

The whole property is gated, so it's a great place for families. Teens can feel safe and be independent, while parents can be sure their kids are safe.

The Nafskia pool is for families. If you want a quieter experience, the Arion or Bungalows would be a better choice for your clients.

There is a new marina for super yachts near the beach. It has high-end, luxury designer shops like Bottega Ventetta and Loro Piana, as well as some restaurants.

The city of Athens is only 30 minutes by cab away, so sightseeing and dinners off-site are easily accessible by cab. The airport and cruise terminal are about 30–40 minutes by car as well.
