5 Things to Love about Rubens at the Palace in London
Curator’s statement

As someone who is always looking for great hotels in London, not only for myself but especially for my clients, I was particularly excited to tour Rubens at the Palace. Just a short walk from both Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace, this historic hotel boasts both five-star service and a prime location overlooking the Royal Mews. I am already planning my next stay here as it is high on my list of hotels, especially ones that I'd recommend to my clients!

Whether it's your first trip to London or you're a seasoned visitor, there is so much to recommend about Rubens at the Palace. It's in a great location with the highest quality of service, stylish rooms that literally let you sleep like a King and so much more! It's hard to narrow down all of the reasons to love this fantastic hotel, but I'd be remiss not to share a few of my absolute favorite highlights!

1. The Location: There is no way to underestimate how perfect the location is. Rubens at the Palace is less than a block from Victoria Station, which allows access to both the National Rail Service and the London Underground. Plus, it's only another block away from Buckingham Palace. If you are interested in exploring some of London's most popular sites like Trafalgar Square, the West End, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the London Eye, you'll find yourself just a short stroll away. And if you want to head further out, the easy access to the tube makes it a cinch.

2. The Rooms: First off, the rooms are gorgeous, with many overlooking the Royal Mews (royal stables). Each room has its own distinctive personality, featuring a bouquet of colors like rich reds, yellows and blues, but every room has its own individual style and personality. The upholstered walls completely insulate any noise, allowing for a peaceful, quiet night after a day of exploring. But one of my favorite parts of my room was the bed! Each of their rooms features delectable Savoir Bed mattresses, which are the same handcrafted, quality mattresses used by the Royal Family. Yes, you heard me, you will literally sleep like a King!

A view of the bedroom complete with a red lined headboard, white bedding, white chandelier, mirrored wall and red and grey curtains on the window.

3. The New York Bar: I know it might be strange that the bar is called the "New York Bar" but trust me when I say this bar feels undeniably British. The bartenders go well beyond traditional hotel bartenders and view mixology as a true art form - loving to surprise you with delicious cocktails of their own invention. And on weekends, the bar features live music that will have you singing with your fellow patrons to the captivating voice of resident singer Sourya, who performs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

4. The Onsite Experiences: Start your morning with their delicious full English Breakfast or pop in for a traditional afternoon tea as you face the street, soaking in all the people-watching and a great view of the Royal Mews. After a day of sightseeing, kick your vacation up a notch with one of the many experiences offered at Rubens at the Palace. Options include everything from whiskey and gin & tonic tastings, mixology classes, cooking classes and even a class to learn the art of sabrage (opening champagne with a saber). All of these wonderful experiences are offered right there at the hotel (although additional charges may apply).

5. The Service: Yes, service will generally be great at any five-star hotel, but here the staff went so much further to make my stay (and stays for their other guests) extra special. From surprising me with a truly delicious birthday cake in my room to arranging fresh flowers in someone's favorite color for their room, they strive to deliver at every moment and give you a personalized experience. And they're all so personable; I left truly feeling like I was leaving behind friends.

Need to know

I recommend Rubens at the Palace for clients who are looking for a quintessential "British Experience" in a prime spot within the heart of London, making it easy to explore all the city has to offer. With their commitment to the small, personalized touches, soon you'll feel like Rubens is your home away from home.
