Curator’s statement
Last September I spent three weeks traveling in Portugal, making my way from Porto to the Algarve. I was absolutely blown away by the natural beauty of Portugal's striking landscapes and the delicious and affordable food scene. While Lisbon and the Algarve are incredible destinations, this guide is for those who want to travel beyond the most popular and crowded destinations and experience some of the more relaxed destinations in Portugal.

Porto
While it is not exactly off the beaten path, Porto is often overlooked for the larger and flashier Lisbon. One of its unique charms is the ability to walk from the city center to the beach, offering a seamless blend of city exploration and coastal relaxation. No trip to Porto would be complete without a stroll along the city's scenic riverfront. Take in the dramatic views over a crisp glass of Vinho Verde. Another point for Porto is its proximity to the Douro Valley where you can tour gorgeous vineyards and learn about the history and craft and Portugese wine.
Evora
Only 75 minutes from Lisbon, Evora offers a unique blend of history and luxury. Explore well-preserved landmarks like the Roman Temple, Chapel of Bones, and Cathedral of Evora, immersing yourself in ancient wonders. After a day of sight-seeing, spend the evening at the absolutely incredible In Aqua Veritas Spa. I have visited many spas around the world, but this one is my absolute favorite. For the price, nothing can compare to this completely private, magical experience. Before your massage you will have private access to the pool and hot tub area.
Try the black pork and migas, a local delicacy that we couldn't get enough of!
Odeceixe
Discover the truly spectacular Odeceixe, a gorgeous and uncrowded beach destination where breathtaking sunsets paint the sky with vibrant hues, leaving you in awe of nature's beauty. With a sense of exclusivity and tranquility, Odeceixe offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, allowing you to unwind in peace. Immerse yourself in nature's splendor and create unforgettable memories in this serene oasis. There are several other equally impressive beaches in the area, Praia da Amoreira and Praia da Arrifana.
I recommend renting a car if you plan to visit Odeceixe and explore the surrounding beaches.
