Where to stay on Grand Cayman

Spring break is always a great time for a reset. This year we chose one of my favorite Caribbean destinations for families: The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Located on Seven Mile Beach, this resort is known for combining true luxury with kid-friendly touches, making it ideal for families. From the moment we landed, everything felt easy, thoughtful and elevated.

Day 1: Arrival and warm welcome

We flew to Grand Cayman on Cayman Airways, which was quick and smooth. Within minutes of arriving, we were through customs and on our way to the resort. The Ritz-Carlton felt welcoming from the moment we stepped out of the car. We were able to check in early, which was a huge win after traveling with the kids.

We had Club Level access, and I highly recommend it for families. The lounge was stocked with snacks, drinks and plenty of kid-friendly options throughout the day, which made things feel seamless. Dinner that night was at Seven, the resort’s signature steakhouse. The steak was perfectly cooked, the curry was packed with flavor and we ended the night with a soufflé that was so worth saving room for.

Day 2: Yacht charter adventure

For day two, we planned something special. We chartered a private yacht and it was one of the best days of the trip. First, we went to Stingray City, where the kids got to interact with the stingrays. It was thrilling, just the right amount of scary and exciting for them. From there, we headed to Starfish Point, a calm, shallow beach where the kids found bright red-orange starfish in the water.

After our day on the water, we came back to the resort and spent the afternoon at Starfish Cay, the splash park at the hotel. It was the perfect way to wind down. That evening, we had dinner at Saint June, the beachfront restaurant and bar. The kids played in the sand while we had cocktails and shared ceviche. We watched the sun go down with our feet in the sand and no rush to be anywhere else.

Day 3: Pool day and beachside dinner

On day three, we were ready to slow things down. We reserved a cabana at the pool and spent the entire day relaxing. The staff brought around cotton candy for the kids, which they absolutely loved. The pool and beach setup at the Ritz is one of the best in Grand Cayman. There’s plenty of space, calm turquoise water and great service.

For dinner, we went off property to Palm Heights to eat at Tillie’s, a popular restaurant right on the beach. We got lucky with a beachfront table. The kids played in the sand while we had fresh fish, cocktails and one of the most beautiful sunset views of the trip. We ended the evening back at the hotel with signature Ritz cookies for the kids and chocolate martinis for the adults in the Club Lounge.

Day 4: Turtles and spa time

The kids were up early for a visit to the Cayman Turtle Centre, which is a short drive from the resort. They got to see the sea turtles up close and learn about the conservation efforts happening on the island. It was a great balance of fun and educational. While they were out, I spent the morning at the Ritz-Carlton Spa, which was a fabulous experience.

In the afternoon, the kids joined Ritz Kids, the hotel’s kids club, which was a hit. They did crafts, played games and even got a special scavenger hunt in the evening while we enjoyed a quiet dinner at Blue by Eric Ripert. This was definitely the most elevated meal of the trip. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings and everything was beautifully presented and delicious.

Day 5: Final beach day

For our last full day, we stayed close to the pool and beach, making the most of the perfect weather. The water at Seven Mile Beach is warm, calm and crystal clear, which makes it ideal for families with young kids. The cabana gave us shade and space to stretch out, and the service was spot on.

Dinner that night was at Andiamo, which is more casual but still fantastic. The pizza was a hit with everyone, and I couldn’t resist the giant pistachio gelato dessert. After dinner, the resort hosted an outdoor movie night for the kids, which felt like the perfect way to end the trip.

Final thoughts

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is a standout for families looking for luxury and ease. The location on Seven Mile Beach is unbeatable. The service is exceptional and every detail is designed to make your stay feel seamless. It’s a great choice for multigenerational families, couples traveling with kids or anyone who wants a blend of relaxation and activity without giving up comfort.

If you’re starting to think about your next spring break or tropical family getaway, let me help you plan it. I know what matters when you’re traveling with kids and can make sure every part of your trip is both special and smooth.

Need to know

  • Club Lounge access is well worth it for families, especially with young kids who love to snack.

  • Book spa treatments and dinner reservations in advance. Blue by Eric Ripert fills up quickly.

  • The resort offers plenty of beach and pool seating, but cabanas are limited and popular, so plan ahead.

  • Be sure to carve out time to explore the island. Stingray City, Starfish Point and the Turtle Centre are all easy and fun off-property excursions.

  • This resort is very kid-friendly but still feels upscale and calm, ideal for multigenerational trips or families looking to relax in luxury.
