Fora’s Take
This brand is also expanding so we will see more fun properties from them in the future. Also, they are running excellent specials right now which are on their website. It is worth noting that the food at these restaurants is overseen by Jorge Vallejo, who is quite lovely and talented.

Chable Maroma is situated south of Cancun (close to Playa del Carmen) and on the beach and this hotel is beautiful. Rooms are spread out and all stand alone with plunge pools. They feel very private. The entry level room is my preferred room because it feels like it is in a tree house however a flight of stairs is involved. The rooms are large with king beds, and large bathrooms with outside showers and each has outdoor space and a plunge pool. (Did we mention the plunge pool?) Paths are lined with tall vines, so you feel secluded. The beach is stunning. The main pool is large and beautiful. Both restaurants were great and they do special dinner events some nights. The service was solid, drinks yummy and the spa was quite special. There is no kids club however they do offer fun activities which families can do together—cooking classes and the like. We think this is best for couples looking for quiet, solo travelers that need a break, friend trips that focus on just being together and I would throw in mother daughter spa trips, 14+.
Chable Yucatan. This was just incredible. Not located on the beach but outside of Merida, this hotel is gorgeous. The rooms again are stand alone, huge and feel private and all have their own plunge pools. The grounds are extensive, and fun to stroll through. Fireflies light the paths at night. There are a few bars and 2 restaurants. The entire place is just dreamy. The spa was excellent and the food delicious. They are building a kids club and residences too. Gorgeous main pool and a small golf course. Plenty of special activities that focus on Mayan history and culture. We would say it is best for the same type of travelers as above but once the kids club is done, we think the younger set would really enjoy it. One note on this, you can drive from Cancun but do not. Fly to Merida or if you must arrive in Cancun, get a helicopter. The drive was 4 hours and hot and there is ongoing construction of a train that causes dirt, bumps and traffic.
