Curator’s statement
First things first, this is such a peaceful property - quiet and calm. With only 32 rooms and spacious open courtyards, Can Ferrereta is hidden behind a huge set of doors on a narrow street… once those doors open, it’s a dream! This is a property where you will decompress completely - cue breezy tall grass and cypress bordering the pool, super fluffy duvets and a bathroom stocked with artisanal perfumes and fresh flowers. The food is excellent - I don’t think I’ve had a better pizza (with the exception of Naples), chorizo and fresh cheese board with an amazing wine pairing - kind, gentle service.
Note: No children under 14 years.

Santanyi is located about an hour from Palma, in the southeastern part of the island. The hotel itself is a restored 17th-century farmhouse - exposed beams, stone floors and the feel of the past, yet contemporary elements like wireless charging pads and a quiet reading library make the property comfortable and easy. The architecture of the buildings are original and artwork is beautifully displayed throughout the property and in the guest rooms (mine had a collection of black & white photography). If available, try to get Suite 21 - this dreamy room has an independent dressing room and the most spectacular bathroom.
Pool loungers are spread out to give guests the space they need. The gym is state-of-the-art (for those who want to work off their morning cava/spumante), further enhanced by an indoor, massive jetted hot tub. The Spa is heavenly with a range of personalized services. I have never been a “spa girl” when I travel (as I’d rather spend time exploring), but my experience at this property converted me.
Marvelous lunch, snack & causal dinner menu at the pool eatery (La Fresca). This is not a simple pool restaurant/bar; it is sensational. This zone of the property is open only to guests. The property's fine dining option, Ocre, is a bit of a "hot spot" - seasonal dishes with local produce.
Need to know
I loved this property so much that I returned twice during a 3-month period. I do recommend Can Ferrereta during the shoulder season (May or September) to avoid the crush of summer crowds. During this period, the hotel is tranquil and easy. The property is a wonderful place for a couple's getaway or solo traveler wanting to fully escape and is a wonderful base to enjoy the southern and southwestern part of the island). The town itself charming - cobbled streets and gold stone buildings.
