Curator’s statement
I visited Argos in Cappadocia in the fall of 2024. It feels like a quaint town, offering tranquility and some of the most unique and stunning views I have experienced. Built into the landscapes formed by volcanic tuff, it blends ancient history with modern luxury. The staff's warmth created a truly special experience. Their cuisine features produce grown in their own gardens, complemented by an extensive wine cellar housed within a centuries-old chapel.

Argos in Cappadocia is nothing short of spectacular. They have crafted a property that seamlessly blends with the region's landscape and rich history. Upon arrival, we immediately felt the tranquility in the atmosphere, with breathtaking views of Pigeon Valley, Mount Erciyes and the iconic fairy chimneys. During our visit, we had the opportunity to explore the site with Ezgi Demirtaş as our guide. She was very friendly and informative as she showed us around the different rooms and suites carved right into the volcanic rock. It was such a cool mix of modern luxury and a showcase of the region's rich history and architectural ingenuity! You’ll feel like you’re in a charming town rather than a typical hotel.
As we walked by, everyone we passed waved and said hi with a smile — it was such a refreshing change from the hustle of bigger cities. Ezgi explained that you can see the hot air balloons in the morning from the hotel. Having taken a balloon tour the day prior, I can only imagine how stunning this makes the property in the early morning hours.
The rooms offer exceptional choices — from fireplaces and terraces to cave suites, each with its own inviting atmosphere. They perfectly balance traditional Turkish craftsmanship with modern luxury, earning recognition as the "Most Romantic" and the "Best Wedding Hotel". It was interesting to see how each room had different touches depending on the formation of the cave. Honeymooners will particularly love the rooms with private pools — an incredible detail for extra privacy and relaxation.
There are a variety of unique dining options on property. When we visited, we were impressed by the stunning views from the dining areas and the warmth of the staff. Imagine a Cappadocian restaurant featuring dishes made from fruits and vegetables grown on the property's own soil. During the tour, Ezgi picked mini green apples for us straight from the tree for us to snack on. There’s also a grand wine cellar with a capacity of 70,000 bottles, sourced from Cappadocia and renowned vineyards worldwide, situated within one of the oldest monasteries. Relax in a lounge with breathtaking views of Mount Erciyes or enjoy drinks at a bar that rivals the best in the region.
Next, Ezgi took us through the more exclusive areas of the property, with Bezirhane being a standout. I gasped when we entered! Imagine hosting a luxurious event here in complete privacy. Once frequented by ancient merchants and monks, these historic spaces have been meticulously restored at Argos in Cappadocia, transforming them into exceptional venues for events. Each location has a unique story and provides a special atmosphere perfect for unforgettable conferences, concerts and celebrations. Bezirhane, originally a linseed oil production site, has served many purposes over its 2,000-year history, including a monastery and a caravansary. Today, it is known for its remarkable acoustics, hosting concerts and gatherings. Meanwhile, the Museum Hall combines history and modern design, showcasing artifacts from an old linseed oil mill and hosting various events, earning a 'Building Protection Award' from the Chamber of Architects. The Chapel, once a sacred site for monks, is now one of Turkey’s most remarkable event spaces, revitalized through Argos’ careful restoration.
Argos in Cappadocia offers a heated outdoor pool with stunning views, ideal for refreshing dips on hot summer days or enjoying the snowy charm of winter in Cappadocia. The resort also includes a spa offering various massage experiences, along with a traditional Turkish Hammam and indoor pool. If you’d like to have a relaxing tea or detox juice, there is a wellness bar as well.
There are two airports nearby: Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV), which is approximately a 45-minute drive away, and Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR), about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. One of the perks offered by Virtuoso is a complimentary one-way private airport transfer, a particularly useful detail for travelers who decide not to rent a car. Argos is also well located for enjoying the most popular activities in the area, whether it be hot air balloon adventures or horseback riding. If you are seeking something truly unique, they can also organize special activities like sunrise yoga, local culinary tours in Cappadocia, full moon walks and exclusive picnic experiences.
