Curator’s statement
In October of 2024 I embarked on a Mediterranean cruise — an 11-night journey aboard the Norwegian Epic! From the sunkissed beaches of Cannes to the timeless ruins of Athens, each port revealed a distinct chapter of the Mediterranean's storied past. The onboard experience was equally remarkable, with a ship designed to cater to every taste and interest. This voyage was more than a cruise; it was a carefully crafted mosaic of discovery, connection and adventure.

The Mediterranean, often celebrated as the cradle of culture, history and natural beauty, served as the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable 11-night journey aboard the Norwegian Epic. Designed to immerse you in the region's wonders, this meticulously curated voyage seamlessly blended ancient marvels with modern luxuries.
Ports of call:
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy (embarkation/disembarkation)
Santorini, Greece
Athens (Piraeus), Greece
Mykonos, Greece
Corfu, Greece
Valletta, Malta
Messina (Sicily), Italy
Naples (Pompeii/Amalfi Coast), Italy
Cannes, France
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Each port unfolded a unique chapter of the Mediterranean's storied past. In Santorini, we marveled at the iconic blue-domed churches and winding staircases perched high above the caldera. Mykonos charmed us with its labyrinthine streets and iconic windmills. Italy dazzled with its breathtaking architecture, from the grand churches of Sicily to the historic cavers in Naples. Culinary delights abounded, from the best pizza EVER in Naples to artisanal gelato enjoyed in the shade of Italy’s historic piazzas.

The onboard experience was equally extraordinary. The Norwegian Epic offered something for everyone, from indulgent spa treatments and world-class dining to lively entertainment and engaging games in the atrium. And for a truly unique experience, you do not want to miss the ICE BAR — a frosty retreat where you can enjoy cocktails served in glasses made of ice, surrounded by Arctic-themed decor. It’s an unforgettable highlight that adds a cool twist to your journey.
This voyage was more than a cruise — it was a journey that invited us to connect with the soul of the Mediterranean. Every moment, from exploring ancient ruins to savoring local delicacies, enriched our understanding and appreciation of the region’s timeless allure.
This is one cruise I highly recommend. Take the time to plan excursions at every port — each offers its own story and treasures. See, learn, and immerse yourself in this incredible odyssey. It’s a journey you’ll cherish long after the ship docks.
Need to know
What you need to know:
Best time to go: October is the ideal time for this Mediterranean cruise. The weather is comfortably warm, with fewer crowds than the summer months, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience at each port. Book your desired excursions early — these sell out!
Packing essentials:
Comfortable walking shoes: You’ll be doing a lot of exploring on foot, so sturdy, supportive shoes are a must for navigating ancient ruins, cobblestone streets and scenic hikes.
Travel umbrella: While October weather is generally mild, it’s always a good idea to pack a compact umbrella just in case of a passing rain shower.
Light jacket: Even though it’s mild, temperatures can drop in the evenings, so a light jacket is recommended for cooler nights or breezy mornings at sea.
Cabin recommendation:
Balcony or Window Cabin: To fully appreciate the Mediterranean’s stunning coastal views, opt for a cabin with a balcony or large window. It’s the perfect way to wake up to breathtaking sunrises or unwind with a glass of wine as you sail into your next port.
