The hotel is located in the spectacular mountains of the Swiss Alps and offers a serene retreat. As the village is car-free, Wengen is accessible only by train from Lauterbrunnen. There is a car park at Lauterbrunnen, if you need it, however, train travel throughout Switzerland is very common, and my preferred way to travel. A Swiss Travel Pass is readily available and can provide unlimited access to the full network of trains, boats and buses. Trains to Wengen depart regularly. As you catch the train & take the fifteen-minute ride up the mountain, sit on the right side (going forward) to catch a mesmerizing view of the Lauterbrunnen valley. As the hotel is across from the train station, you won’t have to carry your luggage far. Upon arrival, the friendly staff will greet you, ensuring an efficient check-in process. I highly recommend treating yourself to the balcony room with a view towards Lauterbrunnen valley which offers spectacular views. Open your windows to the crisp mountain air and the beauty of nature.

Once you’ve settled in, it’s time to unwind and recharge. My suggestion is to put on your bathing suit, slip into the provided robe and head straight to the pool/spa. Wellness takes center stage here with complimentary access for hotel guests. Relax in the tranquil sun terrace room, where you can enjoy panoramic views or watch the passing trains. Take a dip in the pool, complete with jet lounger chairs, and a timed forced “wild” water feature. Indulge in the invigorating cold plunges and saunas (16 & older) and the outdoor jacuzzi, offering mountain views.

There are several dining options to choose from. The on-site Lobhorner Restaurant offers a thoughtful breakfast as well as a three-course dinner menu. The hotel restaurant just around the corner, Pasta & More, serves some delightful pasta dishes and Swiss fondue. There’s several other restaurants within easy walking distance. The town is very accessible from the hotel with the main shopping road just around the corner. Here you’ll find a few charming souvenir stores and a small Coop grocery store.

An uphill field, with some farm animals grazing, a church steeple, some trees, and a big blue sky.

For those seeking adventure, Wengen offers those opportunities as well. You can be as active as you want exploring the natural beauty of the Swiss Alps, with seemingly endless options for hiking, mountain-top visits and tramway adventures. Above all, embrace the tranquility, immerse yourself in nature, and let the breathtaking scenery rejuvenate your soul. Your unforgettable mountain retreat awaits.

Need to know

I recommend the Arenas Resort Victoria-Lauberhorn and Spa to my clients looking for a couple’s getaway, romantic getaway or multi-couple trip so you can fully enjoy the spa and sauna area. Wengen is a wonderful area for those that don’t prefer to drive. It would also work well for families that enjoy the outdoors.
