INK Hotel Amsterdam: Where Creativity, Culture & City Energy Collide
Curator’s statement

Right in the heart of the city, just steps from Dam Square, INK Hotel blends historic charm with a creative, modern soul. Once the home of a newspaper editorial office, this central boutique hotel now invites guests to write their own story — literally. From the sculptural letter wall in the lobby to the hand-drawn maps in every room, everything feels thoughtful and intentionally local. It’s a place that surprises you, but also immediately feels like home.

INK Hotel is set across four restored 19th-century buildings, formerly occupied by De Tijd newspaper. Inside, the design is both industrial and warm, with nods to the building’s editorial past. The rooms are clever, compact where needed, but airy where possible. Expect tall ceilings, plush bedding and charming Amsterdam views — especially from the higher-floor suites.

The in-house restaurant and bar, Pressroom, is popular with both guests and locals. The brunch here is one of the best in town (tip: go for the bottomless cava option). The cocktail workshops offer a unique activity for couples or small groups wanting to do something a little different while staying in.

INK is ideal for travelers who want a central boutique hotel in Amsterdam that feels intimate but still has a buzz. It’s walkable to nearly everything — yet tucked away just enough to offer rest when you need it.

What makes the location so special

This hotel is a great choice for almost any type of traveler: stylish couples, solo explorers, even friend groups. It’s a short stroll to cultural icons like the Anne Frank House and Westerkerk. You are also only minutes from Amsterdam’s best high-end shopping at De Bijenkorf department store.

For sweet lovers, the original De Drie Graefjes bakery is just around the corner — the red velvet cake here is legendary. Craving a sleek evening vibe? Head to the W Hotel rooftop for a cocktail by the Instagram-famous pool, or book a table at Mr. Porter or Cecconi’s inside Soho House for a gorgeous dinner with style.

Local tips you’ll want to bookmark

Take the free ferry to NDSM in Amsterdam Noord – the vibe here is artsy and industrial, with street art, creative cafés like Noorderlicht and Pllek, and a different view of the city.

  • Lunch at Eye Film Museum for a waterside view over the IJ.

  • Swing over the skyline at the top of A'DAM Lookout (great photo op).

  • Sneak away to the Pulitzer Hotel garden — a peaceful, hidden gem for a slow lunch or quiet drink.

  • Explore the Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjes) for boutique shopping in charming alleys.

Bonus tip

Thinking of renting a bike? Amsterdam is a cycling city, but the traffic can be intense — especially near Central Station, where the bike crossings look like a human beehive. I always take international friends on a bike ride if they’re up for it, but fair warning: a Russian and a Mexican friend both chickened out! Only rent a bike if you’re confident and experienced – We locals aren’t exactly patient with wobbly riders blocking the flow.
