A Stay in Dreamland at Villa Palladio Jaipur
Curator’s statement

While in Rajasthan, India for the holidays, I spent Christmas at Villa Palladio Jaipur, a boutique hotel that perfectly encapsulates the colorful wonder and rich cultural heritage throughout Rajasthan. While this is unlike many luxury hotels in India, its picture-perfect design and thoughtful staff make Villa Palladio one of my favorite hotels for a unique and special experience in India.

After a week of exploring the hustle and bustle of Rajasthan, we arrived at the peaceful retreat of Villa Palladio, nestled just outside the vibrant cityscape of Jaipur. Upon arrival, we immediately could see that this boutique hotel was unique, peaceful and truly magical.

Throughout history, Rajasthan has been an important place of cross-cultural exchange, and the team behind Villa Palladio have carried that theme throughout the design of this hotel. The entire property felt like a fairytale, from the castle-like turrets to the intricately carved arched windows. Walking into the main building, we were immediately transported to a world of vibrant color and splendor surrounded by the hotel’s signature color — red. While many luxury hotels in India have preserved history and heritage, Villa Palladio fused old-world charm with contemporary design. Our favorite room was the second-floor breakfast terrace, which overlooked the hotel grounds, allowing us to admire the hotel grounds from above. I also recommend checking out the cute little library room, tucked just to the side of the main hall.

Located right outside Jaipur's city center, Villa Palladio is a destination in itself, and for our time in Jaipur, it truly felt like home. After our days of shopping and sightseeing, we looked forward to the comforts of Villa Palladio and the kind staff that welcomed us back. The location didn't bother us at all, and I actually preferred to have some separation from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are no sights within walking distance, so I do recommend you organize tours and drivers beforehand, which the hotel can help arrange.

Meals were extraordinary — every menu is a perfectly curated mix of Italian and Indian options, made with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Our rooms were filled with thoughtful amenities and special treats each night. We were visiting in the winter and the turndown service included a hot water bottle and homemade chocolates. The hotel's pool was an architectural wonder on its own and a peaceful retreat after long days on our feet. We couldn't help but feel like we were on the set of the next Wes Anderson movie.

Villa Palladio was even more beautiful in person than we could have imagined. While every corner of this boutique hotel is begging to be photographed, it is the service and the thoughtfully curated mix of fairytale charm and modern luxury that sets this hotel apart. It isn't the traditional hotel you'll find in India, but it is refreshingly unique and the perfect hotel to add some variety to your Rajasthan itinerary.
