Girl's Weekend Bishop's Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection Santa Fe, NM
Curator’s statement

I spent a long girls' weekend in Santa Fe in March 2024. We stayed at beautiful Bishops Lodge. The resort has undergone a sensitive restoration to preserve it’s distinctive Southwestern heritage. It’s about fifteen minutes away from town, set in the mountains.

The resort is in a mountain setting with amazing views. We stayed in a grove, double, queen room, and we were welcomed with snacks and a birthday greeting from the staff. The room was cozy with comfortable beds, a sitting area with a kiva fireplace and a very large bathroom.

We headed to the spa on the first day where we each enjoyed being pampered. Our treatments were top-notch, but the spa is in a casita building, while the new larger spa building is being built out. Right now, there are no showers, no steam rooms or the typical amenities you would find at a luxury spa. With that said, we still enjoyed our services there.
Morning walks over to the Two Dogs Café for coffee, a bagel or pastry was a good way to start the day.

Daytime included hiking as well as visiting the Santa Fe shops and galleries. The Lodge offered car service, or the use of their cars if needed for trips into town.
We enjoyed happy hour, or Bishop’s Hour as they called it, on the patio at the SkyFire restaurant where you could sit outside with a cocktail and light appetizer, while enjoying the amazing views. We ate dinner at the SkyFire restaurant one night, and enjoyed what the chef called modern Mexican cuisine.

The pool are is very nice, but the weather was still too cool to swim when we visited in March.

Need to know

We were impressed with staff and the quick service whenever we needed something. Rooms were very comfortable and the property is as beautiful in person as it is in pictures. If you want to stay away from town and the crowds, this is your spot. They have the perfect wedding location, as they have an outdoor space for a ceremony and a large bunkhouse for the wedding party. Also, it's a really fun location for a family reunion.
